Try the Hanwei Practical Wakizashi. I can't remember exactly how much it is, but it's right around $100...

There's the upcoming "tactical" wakizashi by Hanwei. It's a nihonto-shaped machete sorta thing going for it, but you can be sure of some good quality. It's $90+shipping pre-order at Wiwingti.
I think that's the only real example, though.

I recently purchased a cheap waki on Ebay from XANDLNET and was pleasantly surprised with what I got for less than $45 shipped. Shipping from California to Texas was $14.95 with tracking. Worth every penny, in my opinion. (I just had to see what a $29.69 sword looked like.) It is nearly identical to the Musashi Black Bamboo Warrior that I purchased from TrueSwords. The differences; It has a fake hamon. The tsuba is the double "D" style and made of stamped steel, not cast. The blade is not signed on the tang. Similarities; The tang is longer than I expected and is about 85% the length of the tsuka. The tsuka is held in place by two mekugi (pegs). The saya is a very glossy black lacquered finish. Hope this helps you.... Looks like they have one listed right now for $32.99 + shipping.
Update: the post below this one has a link that shows the exact same wakizashi, but from SwordNArmory and at the same price.
