Ok, so, the sax got here in good time, nice box, well wrapped in newspaper.
I took the knife out of the wrapping and it was also wrapped in cellophane, on that was a sticker that said, "made In the Philippines" So thats why it was cheep!!! Still a real good value.
the knife is 10 1/2 Inches long over all and the blade is 6 1/2 Inches long with the handle at 3 7/8ths long.
the hilt and pommel are steel and squarish/oval, as is the wood handle, that is painted black, (Black was not common until the 1200/1300's) I would prefer brown or natural wood/leather, But for the price!! I'm not going to look it in the mouth.
The blade is steel, I don't know what kind, but it has a good spring to it, the hilt and pommel are steel as well.
It is about 5.4 Oz's and is nice in the hand, Easy to whip it around like a tack knife. The edge is apple seed sharp, will cut cardboard, but will need touching up to cut paper or plastic bottles. Semi mat finish and the blade is 1/8th thick with some distal taper by 1/6th to 1/32 at the tip.
Nice
Nice!
Ignore whats left of Grendel.
So, here we see the sax with my trusty Zippo for a size comparison, the sheath is leather, not the best, but will do for now, it can hang down or side ways, it has two loops for this, the hilt slide into the first part of the sheath like its supposed to.
I cut the box it came in to shreds, tried to throw it, and with the length of the blade, it tends to be awkward, so a good hand to hand knife for shure!!
I thrown it around about ten times but gave up!
Specs are: Over all length, 10 1/2"
Blade:6 1/2"
Handle:3 7/8th's"
Width:1/8"taper to 1/32"
Has Distal taper!
POB:4" from pommel, 6 1/4" from tip
Pommel is Peened!! Yay ;D
The shape is found in southern Norway and Sweden and is historically Accurate as are the hilt and pommel.
Over all, Nice job by the Gen2/Legacy guys and well worth the price................Oh, Ya at $29.00 plus shipping, Ya cant beat it!!!
I got mine at Imperial Arms............SanMarc.
