I noticed when just browsing through the reviews that Paul encountered the same problem as I have: I have no idea how the belt for my VA sword (a Hedemark) is supposed to be worn! Is it supposed to wrap around you twice or something?? Could someone give me a tip as to how the belt is supposed to be worn without punching new holes in it if possible?

It's actually not a belt, it's a baldric. You run the strap from behind the sword scabbard, cross it in an x-pattern under the wooden strap bridge, then fasten it over your shoulder.
I'll see if I can find a picture unless someone can beat me to it...

Avery linked to it, but I will post here for ease of SBG access and future reference for what I was specifically talking about: Attachments:

Thank you both for the assistance. I tried it out, and it appears I'll still have to punch a new hole because I'm so short but at least I know how to wear it now ^_^;

Yeah, Odins going with the simple, early style of a baldric. And there are better historical examples of that style, but I still like my sword on a tilt. Heres a pic from that same thread we're referring to of a different suspension system. This is the one I personally like. A closer look Either way will be historically close, it just depends on whats comfortable for you. Heres a closer look to pic Odin put up, it shos the "X" pattern a little better.

Yeh... the Baldric on my Hedemark is a bit long as well, and I'm not a thin guy... or super short at 5'10... but for a universal peice like this... I say better to make it longer and give you the chance to add a couple holes and ware it then to make it not long enough and have a tall or thick or tall AND thick guy find it to small.

You know, if it is REALLY long, you COULD do a double-wrap belt with it: www.medievalware.com/PhotoGallery.asp?ProductCode=R200454MYou'd still need to do the x-wrap under the bridge instead of the frog-thing in the picture, but that's the idea. It'd be a bit anachronistic, but I've heard it's a pretty comfy way to wear a sword.
