Its a lot lighter in color, I woulda gone darker myself... but it looks decent. I love big monster swords... I dunno why.

Good job, especially if it's your first grip.

Another look at pommel. I am very happy with it for my first attempt at grip work. ;D Attachments:

Don't judge a sword by it's flex That's only partly right. A XVIII with that much flex is simply not a good sword for it's type (Windlass...). Flex IS an indicator of quality, if the flex is appropriate for a sword type it's certainly a good thing. Right on; I have a Windlass Type XVIII that is anything but true to type. That said, it was my first ever 'real' sword so I've kept it for its sentimental value. Having said that, I LIKE this sword, although it is at the limit of what I can comfortably wield.

I just picked one of these up - KoA had a special on them for under $170 (no longer available, I'm afraid, but they can still be had for under $200). Anyway, I gotta echo the original review. I am really amazed at how well this sword handles, considering its size and weight. I know some of the H/T blades have mixed quality edges, but mine came sharp enough to cut paper with. I've done some light cutting with it and so far I haven't run into anything it didn't cut cleanly on the first swing, that includes intentionally cutting with the tip and below the CoP. The toughest target I've cut with the GSOW so far was a SoBe Lifewater bottle (those dang things have hard plastic with walls easily twice as thick as regular soft drink bottles). I plan on trying my hand at some more substantial targets pretty soon, but so far I have to say that I am very impressed. I mean for under $200 you can't beat the bang for the buck.
