YES!! Finally! I've been waiting for a decent affordable blunt longsword.I've been saving for an Albion Meyer (I'll still get one later) and I didn't care for Tinkers really....and of course Hanweis H&H is attrocious, stupidly enormous pommel, short crossguard thats virtually useless in many longsword techniques and the grip is so short my gauntlets dont both fit on it. I have the sharp version of this one and and love it, Im glad to see they've done a blunt...Nice going Hanwei! www.therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c1274.html

Cool. Not many big longswords or small two handers for fighting on the production market. And the price is good too.

This is the sharp version of this, isn't it? www.therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c959.htmlLooks cool. The sharp has been around for awhile now, pretty neat that they're making a blunt. I haven't heard the greatest things about the other Hanwei blunts, I'd be interested to hear how this one stacks up. By H&H are you talking the Albrecht? Hahah, aw man, I love my Albrecht! Funny, the big pommel is one of my favorite parts about it, for me it's comfortable.

Funny, the big pommel is one of my favorite parts about it, for me it's comfortable. My hopes are up for it, I'll definitely pick one up. And yeah I was talking about the Albrecht, hehe, I mean, I use mine for longsword technique and like I say, that grip is so short that Im half gripping that huge pommel and my gauntlets bind and lock up on each other and that puts me in a position where there is a sword coming at me and I cant do much about it I think I'll tear it apart and make a new grip and guard and make it a single hander to be a loaner agains the 1:33 when I get it. The only other Hanwei blunt I have is the Norman, and its not too bad...blade heavy but still pretty solid....It'll face the Vittfarne one day... ;D

I'll be waitin' on your review, I've been looking for a decent training blunt too, one that won't hit my wallet too hard. The sharp felt pretty good to me, especially that long grip. Let us know when you grab it! Heh, I've never used my Albrecht with gauntlets, that sounds like kind of a problem! I guess you want to be able to respond to your opponents stroke, huh!

Yeah, I think getting hit because of it is where my animosity towards it comes from. Single handed its fine for me but two hands armored? No. In thruth I was just perusing the different vendors trying to see who has this new Longsword and whos got the best price (Im betting KoA will put it between $200 -$220) and I saw an antiqued version of the Albrecht....definitly more attractive with a sharp blade....but that crossguard needs a hhigher protein diet or a growth spurt or something....

Well, I like the Al2. The blade on the regular sharp version is a thing of beauty. I'm real fond of the sharp Bastard (longsword) also.

I'm real fond of the sharp Bastard (longsword) also. Me too Rick, I'm just hoping the grip is tighter on this one than it was on my sharp, I wont bother cutting the blade down to widen the tang like Mike and I did on our sharps.... since my other blunts are rattly like this too (especially the H&H ) I think its inevitable at this price point.....but even so....I think I'll put a few other swords that I've been looking at for a while, on the back burner to pick this one up.

I'm real fond of the sharp Bastard (longsword) also. I would certainly hope so mister, as it was your review that sent me over the edge and triggered my order to KOA for one Some vid of a few fellows whackatizing a dead pig or a hanging brisket or some such convinced me that I needed the Albrecht2, so you're off the hook for that one

Alrighty, Chuck. Now all you need is an Eddy3 for the trifecta.

good to see another affordable blunt longsword to hit the market. I have a Hanwei practical h&h, not a bad starter trainer, especially for the price. One of my students now uses it in our study group. My Valiant Armory I-Beam is a excellent training blunt for under $200. It's really been put to the test since I purchased it and is still holding up well.
Interested to see the feedback on this new Hanwei bastard blunt.
