www.grtc.org/events/2009-seminars-and-events/#more-282On July 24,25 2010, Scott Rodell will be in Edmonton for a 2 day seminar, the first in Canada!!! The venue has been secured and a hotel is within 5 minutes drive from the site. I will post a poster with more information in the near future. The only thing you'll need are racquet ball goggles, and a sturdy wooden sword. See below for wooden swords www.little-raven.com/RS/MA/index.htmlThe GRTC style jian from Raven Studios with a 27-28" blade will be more than adequate (Carina measures the blade from front of guard...which is about 2 inches long) or www.tigers-den-swords.com/his swords are absolutely top of the line but expensive considering exchange rate of English Pound and shipping, duty/taxes. I may have one or two of these for sale...oiled, not used at all. The $35 wooden Tai Chi swords so readily available are NOT appropriate for this type of work. it will likely shatter after a few drills.

I'm actually praying there might be another seminar later in the year a bit closer to where I live down here in the states. But good for you MA brothers north of the border, Scott Rodell is supposed to be wonderful to learn from in his seminars from what I've heard.

Scott Rodell has multiple seminars in the US, East and West. I've attended 2 of his seminars in the past before hosting it in my home town. Quality teaching and it's serious swordsmanship with wooden swords weighing 1.5lbs and up. Beginners don't use anything protection other than goggles so learning control is a must. For senior freeplay, helmets, thick gambesons, plastic greaves, lacrosse gloves are used...otherwise broken fingers and other bones may result.

That's why I am a fan of GRTC and Scott Rodell on facebook, so I can keep up the the seminar schedule in hopes to make it to one eventually.
