Over the past couple of weeks I've been looking for and researching custom sword shops. I've found a few that I am interested in and wonder if you guys might suggest a few more??? For example: I came across FABLE BLADES and am now a fan of Brendan's work and his story-unbelievable!!!! Way to go man! For those of you that don't know FABLE BLADES check it out: www.fableblades.com/index.htmlI also came across Ollin Sword Design--love the Z.D.C. lol!!! ollinsworddesign.com/So my question is: what am I missing? Are there other custom weapon makers out there that can do work under $1000.00 like these guys? If so let me know. I'd be interested to see their work and hear your stories and experiences you've had with them. As always thanks for reading.

We are very familiar with both of the sword makers you posted. Brendan is a regular poster in the forums and an SBG friend to many; as well as a great sword smith and favorite pick here for custom work. You are missing out on a few others that you might want to look at as well: Volund Forge (Michael Pikula): volundforge.com/Tinker Swords (Michael Tinker Pearce): www.tinkerswords.comOdin Blades (John Lundemo): www.odinblades.com/ ;D

You may want to take a look at Scorpion knives and bows traditionalarcherybows.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page1.htmlHe has made a few swords for people on the forum and made me the sword of Achilles I had been looking for. His pricing seems to be more in line of what you are looking for and he's a great guy to work with plus can make anything you can draw. I'm not sure whats left but Jody Samson (who now drinks at the Gods table in Valhalla) seems to have some things left over to sell jodysamson.com/private-sale-1.htm I guess it's through Albion, they used to handle his sales and they are one of a kind and made very very well. A Samson sword would be a good get seeing as when they are gone there will be no more, depende on what you like though.

I agree with all of the options outlined thus far...you might also want to consider DSA; I know they're not a custom shoppe technically, but they have the ability to do so and at your pricepoint you might find something you like. www.darksword-armory.com I believe it is.

It really depends on what you're looking for, as each maker has their own distinct 'flavor' to their creations, but I'd vote for either Brenno (Fableblades) or John Lundemo (Odinblades). I have the FB Sword of Garrigal and quite like it, as well as the FanTacWak, and I plan on commisioning an Odin within the next few months.
Those two are my personal favorites, but all of the above listed makers are quite good.

I have to throw in Baltimore Knife and Sword. Matt and Kerry can do custom for you within a reasonable budget as we all have had an opportunity to see lately. They are members of the forum and just plain nice guys too like the others mentioned already. www.baltimoreknife.com/

Wow! Awesome. Thanks guys. I tend to lean more for the custom shops because of the personal touches they can throw in. But I'm also thankful for the general manufacturers out there. Without them I'm sure we all never would have gotten into sword collecting/play.

Jake Powning is my favourite. When I find my wealth I only hope some of Jake's pieces are available, as I will accumulate as many as I can.

I used to get stuff from John Thompson of Dwarf Mountain Knives but I don't know if he's still making stuff. I got a beutiful stag handled dagger and stag handled viking sword from him a few years back.

Oh and for Chinese Traditional style blades don't forget Jin-Shi. ( www.jin-shi.com ) Garrett has very reasonable custom prices around the SBG price point.
