True, first I heard of'm is when Sean first put up his MAD Brug Hild for sale. I haven't really seen anything that grabbed me (Brug Hild aside, think my wife would love it, but...too rich for my blood at the mo); Powning? I figure maybe in about 10 no 5 no, 2 years or so, I'll be able to commission something from him.

...I did know that about John Lundemo, but when you see all that he has to offer, at least for me, getting one of his entry level swords almost seemed like it was...disrespectful. That's not what I really mean, but sorta... I'm not sure that I agree with that... I mean, is it disrespectful to buy a stock ATrim and not have it Fletcher-ized? (Again with the 'disrespectful' thing, here. I agree that it's not the right word, so take it as meaning what you were thinking.) Likewise, would it be 'disrespectful to buy a Valiant Armoury Atrim instead of saving up some extra $ and getting a Signature Line model? I, personally, think not... I would say that if John's offering a deal, that means that he's willing to do it, in which case it's beneficial for both parties involved (Odin and the buyer). I'm sure that John can shed more light on it, however... and besides, you know what they say. "To each their own", and all that. -Slayer

I do not think it disrespectful at all, in fact having read this thread I am very tempted to speak to Mr. Lundemo about my next purchase (that's still a ways off though).
I wonder how he would feel about a simple type XIV to my specs . . .
as I said on another forum: "I haven't seen anything of his yet that said I had to own it but judging from what I am seeing that he's done already it is only a matter of time." (or something like that)

It's disrespectful when people semprini about a maker's prices, unless they are grossly overcharging, IE angelsword.

Watched a dude (who obviously didn't know a katana from a toothpick) drop eight grand on an O katana at the Tex Ren Fest this season at the Angel sword shoppe. I thought, "Christ Almighty, do you know how many quality weapons I could buy with 8 megabucks?"

I have so many ideas that would become real for that amount of cash.

My biggest obstacle to getting a custom is not the price. It's knowing what I want! Once I figure that out I can save up the money...somehow.

8 grand would get me that Howard Clark blade, with enough left to get it furnished, and I still would have enough left over for plenty of runs to Dallas for sushi

If I had 8 grand to spend on a hobby I'd get myself a decent custom sword of some sort, some really good chainmail, and really fancy computer. Yes, computers are totally sword related...uhh...somehow... you can use them for hacking?

I saw them even Watson himself at the NYC custom knifeshow. Looking and holding the swords the guy behind the table mention ed literally 5 times in 5 minutes about how they do a layaway plan.
I wished Albion was there so I could just plop a chair in front of the angelsword booth and talk loudly about the Albions and how much bullsemprini angelsword sells along with they're layaway plan.

You should just talk to the people who buy the angelswords, tell them you've got a lovely bridge in Brooklyn you're looking to sell.

As little as three hundred dollars down and you can pay for the bridge over two years! Did you see this bridge on Mythbusters? I promise it was our bridge and it was awesome!

My biggest obstacle to getting a custom is not the price. It's knowing what I want! Once I figure that out I can save up the money...somehow. I have the same problem. Its very tough. Also with product swords I have a problem of choosing. I have seen many interesting swords but I know cant buy everything. Even if I would be rich I would not buy a great collection, because too many swords would be like inlflation that ruins their inherent value. Sword should be a lifelong companion, and there cant be very many lifelong companions of the same type or they loose their high value and became like a "harem". I must choose my next few swords very carefully because they are all I allow myself to buy (at least in a decade). I havent decided the exact limit but it could be like four, and of those I allow only one or two more to be viking swords. The rest must be of different types so that they wont inflate the great emotion I have with viking swords. The sword is mythologic object that most people just dream of, the lightning of god, the iron pillar of sky, a ray of light in the modern dark ages, a family treasure, the honour of your ancestors, an iron backbone that makes its owner never to bend and never to give up. There cant be many of those or this image is shattered.
