Does anyone have any experience with this axe? I've been looking at for awhile and I think I'll take the plunge. I didn't see any reviews of it in the index so I figured I'd just ask. Any thoughts anyone?

I don't own one but did get a chance to handle one a little at the local ren fair. The first thing you need to know is that the haft is large, like 1.5 inches (or more) in diameter. For me, that spoiled the deal, as I have smallish hands. I loved the look and the finish, though. It was a solid-feeling piece, and the head was nice and shiny. The color of the haft was a nice amber, too, better than a lot of other offerings in the same price range, IMHO.
As far as actual quality, I can't say, like how well it will hold up to use.
Hope that helps, Alan

Thanks Alan. Was the eye round with a wedge fit? Thats what I'm guessing, anyway. I'm not too concerned about the haft size. If it's too big I'll just reshape it. Do you remember how thick the spine was? Thanks again man.

Truthfully, I don't remember. I do know that the head is attached permanently, but can't recall how. If you're not worried about the haft size, I'd say go ahead and get it. It's a nice looking and feeling axe.

I had it. It's okay, but in my opinion the edge was too thin. That's just my opinion, though.

I'd read a few different threads at the SFI, and Myarmoury. The consensus was that the steel is soft or less than well tempered, hence undesirable. I don't have the Viking axe I do have the knight's axe. Yes the steel is real soft the egde bent on my on a light cut on a cedar tree. Hmmmmm, given that it's that soft, I think I'll give this one a pass. I mean if it rolled on cutting a cedar, I can only imagine what'd happen if I tried to throw it....which I'm sure I would.

Looking at the picture I can see how it won't slide down but flying off the top................ can't tell. Though with the soft steel it's kinda moot.
