Well, I don't know about a functional replica, but I know John Lundemo made a stunning piece that was loosely inspired by the Daywalker sword. Called it "Bloodrunner." :

when you say "functional" do you mean simply a "battle ready" blade or do you mean functional like it should have the "booby trap" handle with the silver spikes that explodes a vampires' hand if you don't click the switch?

Pity, though. I haven't seen the movies, but I did have a 440SS replica and liked the overall design of the sword. On a side note, I must ask; what on earth inspired you to have that awful hellspawn of an SLO as your signature?!? I'm sure you have a reason, but... MY EYES!!! ;D HTH, Slayer

Lol, I was actually thinking the exact opposite. I was thinking more along the lines of 'I don't like the blade, but it *could* work with a few changes... the hilt, on the other hand- Yowzers, no. Way too gaudy. Try real gold and gems, and it might look ok, but that's more of a plastic/potmetal/alloy sort of thing going on.' Not saying that one of us is right or wrong, of course. I just found it humorous that we could disagree within the act of agreeing. Only me... lol. -Slayer

Easy there, guys. He must like the sword or it must mean something to him for him to put it as his signature. It sure as hell doesn't match my tastes in sword aesthetics (I don't care for the hilt OR the blade), but I don't feel an urge to rag and bag on it and discount something that is dear to him.
*shrug* Just my thoughts, I guess.

Hey... we are a sword forum dedicated to functional swords... and that thing is far from functional. If he can't take a little ribbing about it, then thicker skin is needed. Once you put something out there for the world to see, its fair game... and if you put an SLO like that in front of our faces... well... we will speak our minds. I'm a pretty friendly guy, really I am... but lately there has been a trend I'm seeing... either people are total douchebags, or they are super PC walking around on eggshells for fear of offending anyone. There is a middle ground... and thats where I live.

^ Well said.
This is why I don't post a whole lot. It seems to me that my sarcastic attitude would too easily offend people here..
It's a strange thing, actually. This forum is easygoing... but then again it's not. On other, perhaps not as "friendly" forums I'm much more quick to give people some snarky comments and such, because I know they won't take it personally in anyway.. They're even expecting it, maybe.
Eh, I'll just try to get used to the idea I'm not around lonely, jaded geeks here.. >_>

There is a middle ground... and thats where I live. Thank you Sean. Exactly my feelings about the state of this board these days. We have the two extremes and are not really meeting the happy middleground. As to the original post, I also saw that KOA "battle ready" blade. I had my doubts then and looking back, I still do.

To answer the OP, Luna already did- PM johnlundemo1 here or send him an email off his site, www.odinblades.com - his is vastly superior to the United Cutlery one, which I have.

Yea, I guess I'm not a hundred percent sure why I posted that, lol. It was the middle of the night, I was tired, I just got back from a nightclass from 10-11:30 pm and wanted to chill out and check for any updates on the forum and I came across what seemed to my addled brain to be an informal hate-fest on something somebody cared about. I'm not exactly sure why I took...uh..."offence?"....to it then. Here in the daytime after a night of sleep all I can see is how criminally dysfunctional that SLO really is. Had I been fully awake at posting, I very likely would have thrown in a few pithy pseudo-witticisms myself. ;D But looking back, I can still see something about throwing out phrases like "awful hellspawn," "MY EYES!!!" and "blegh" with no relevance at ALL to the topic at hand or the poster's question that doesn't sit too well with me. Maybe I'm being unreasonable for fear of being anywhere near the "douchebag" distinction, but I'd rather tread carefully than hurt someone's feelings for no real reason. Don't get me wrong, I love me a good round of SLO-bashing--I've had a rollicking good time in some of the "look at this stupid thing I saw at Trueswords.com!" threads, but this thread wasn't about that. He wasn't posting about that sword, he asked a question about the daywalker sword and wanted a response about THAT. He didn't say "what do you think of this sword?--pic." And the sword is part of his signature. I don't feel super comfortable with doling out harsh judgments about people's personal "hallmarks" that they use as their identity in this medium. It would be like if shadowhowler asked a question about when the full line of new Atrims would be available from Fletcher's website or another distributor and the first response came from some jerk who said, "I'm not sure when they'll be available, but I'm pretty sure if you email Christian you could get an answer. On a sidenote, I must ask; what on earth inspired you to have such a brutally cheesy eye-searing excuse for a suit of armor as your avatar?!?!? I mean, I know you must have SOME reason, but that thing is BUTT UGLY. Yeesh. ;D ;D" ..... ..... Not really called for or even REMOTELY appropriate, is it? And yet that's exactly the situation that went down here, you know? Is it excusable here because Sean's armor (which is awesome, btw) is functional and the sword here isn't? I can't really, honestly, say that I think so. It's a small-ish thing, but the justification doesn't sit well. Would I normally have said anything? No. Was a being a bit thin-skinned by proxy because of being absurdly tired? Yes, definitely. But I said what I said for some reason, and even looking back now I can't really discount those reasons entirely, if I'm being completely honest with myself. I do apologize for making a bit of a needless fuss, but I can't take back what I said. So I'm airing it out and looking at it. Take it as you may.

If you had said nothing else on it, I would've been cool. I didn't feel you needed to explain yourself, as it were- we already get it. You feel how you feel.
You can take offense to whatever you like, but don't expect me to become obsequious because you're offended; I don't subscribe to political correctness- to me its an excuse for men to forget the balls they were born with and behave like timid mice. I'll allow, if I'm in the wrong, I have no problem acknowledging it- I'll even say I stand corrected, but there's no correction here, just a difference of opinion.
Besides, what makes you think Sean even cares how you feel about his avatar? I'm quite sure he doesn't post it for any other reason than because he likes it; same with me and I hope, same for you. Would it matter if someone were to say you look like an effeminate buffoon attempting to look debonair? Would it matter if someone were to say that about me? Not that you do, I'm just using that as an example, I don't truly think that. And I know I'm not. lol
All that to say, you KNOW we're gonna clown a SLO, that's the nature of this board- even you indulge so what's the real problem? Even the OP said he knew some would find it ugly and what have you, but HE liked it. As far as I'm concerned, that's cool with me- and look at that, no other problems arose from the exchange.

Well, that big ol' stream of consciousness post took long enough to write that whiteshadowwarrior posted his comment before I did--I didn't know his response to the situation when I submitted it. I had just come back to this thread and noticed how out-of-character my previous "Easy there, guys" post was and how it had ruffled some feathers. I was trying to figure out why I felt that way, more of an explanation for myself than anyone else. Trying to work out what bothered me. I'm not asking anyone to become a sycophantic pansy, lol--I'm not really asking anything. I wasn't trying to solve a problem (because as you said, I don't really see one) I was trying to understand a reasoning. My reasoning. As for the avatar thing, I thought I made it pretty clear that it was an example of how jumping on someone's personal info is unpalatable, not a self-important dig at Sean. I used him as an example because his avatar is easily recognizable and bit unusual, and he's a stand-up, great guy. As far as someone jumping on mine, well yea, I wouldn't care--I'm not looking for your approval or anyone else's. But that doesn't mean I think it's a good idea to carry on like that. I'll always argue for kindness over being inconsiderate of others. I've had too many experiences in my life where sticking to my guns and not taking the feelings of others into account has needlessly hurt relationships to condone that anymore. Besides, I don't need to "attempt to look" debonair. It just happens. ;D ;D

its ok i can see how the gold and gems thing is ugly to most people but i like it since it looks more elegant and royal. but i agree the saw part and shoulder on the blade is ugly but the rest of it is nice in my opinion I agree with ya... I think the furniture has a really over the top cool look to it... like a kings highly decorated sword... but the blade is so obviously cheesetastic it ruins the piece. It would look awesome with a good blade IMO. It would be like if shadowhowler asked a question about when the full line of new Atrims would be available from Fletcher's website or another distributor and the first response came from some jerk who said, "I'm not sure when they'll be available, but I'm pretty sure if you email Christian you could get an answer. I can't really, honestly, say that I think so. It's a small-ish thing, but the justification doesn't sit well. I can tell you very honestly that it would NOT bother me in the least if someone wanted to express an opinion on the armor in my avatar, be it good or bad. Once you put something out into the public, in my view, you invite comment and scrutiny, and I don't mind it at all. I guess part of it has to do with how you interact with people. With my friends we rib each other without mercy... we tease and joke with one another all the time. Its how we show affection and express our comfort with each other. At work, I'm very polite and professional... and I don't rib on co-workers. I see this forum more as a group of friends then as an office, so I feel comfortable joking and teasing and ribbing my fellows here... and I would hate to have to tighten my sphincter and treat this place like an office where you have to mind your P's and Q's... because that would take a lot of the fun out of being here. I won't say anything to anyone here that I would not be willing to have said to me... and I feel that is all the consideration needed.

As far as a functional daywalker sword, maybe another option would be to contanct Brenno and see what he could do? I'm sure he could make an AMAZING vampire-slaying sword.

Thats a great idea, actually... either Brenno or BKS would be great places to look at getting something like that made... as would Odin. So many great options.
