I recently posted a new review on my blog page showing the problem with buying a wallhanger/ display sword. This is very good reading for any one who is new to buying a sword and wants to know what to watch out for. Here is an excerpt from the blog... When you buy a Katana, just what are you buying? Are you buying a sword to hang on the wall for display? Are you buying a sword for forms practice? Or, are you buying a fully functional sword that is fit for the rigors of martial arts skills practice that range from forms to cutting? This is something that you need to ask yourself when you are considering a purchase, long before you even go shopping. Here you will see two katana compared, not in functional use, but in disassembly, and you will get to see how fragile the display model is. In the picture below, the katana on the left is an inexpensive display sword that I purchase in a set of 3 (katana, wakazashi, and tanto) for about $50 usd. The katana on the right is a low-end budget sword that is fully functional in all aspects. I purchased it for about $100 usd. The full article can be read at reviews.swords.com/katana-tang-anomalies/ it would be a rough time trasferring the whole thing here with all the pic codes and all.
