Hey Pogo, what do you think of that Chaos Sword? I've always wanted one o' those beauties... Thanks, Slayer Hi, Slayer. It is really my first big ass euro and it is freaking cool. The weight is great--not nearly as heavy as I expected, usable with one hand. Balance about what I expected. Blade is very nice looking as are most of the fittings. The problem is the grip--it looks nice but the blue "ito" slides around, so no cutting until I re-wrap it.

BLUE?!?!?! I thought it was black over red? Otherwise, sounds awesome. ;D That may have to be my next sword... It was the first one that I ever really fell in love with. Oh, darn it. Too many sweet blades out there, lol! ;D Thanks for the mini-review, man. -Slayer

I sold one of my Jody Samson swords, bills have to be paid.I thought it might not hurt to take $300.00 out of my sale and replace it with a less expensive sword.I really like darkswords new Migration sword and one of the Hanwei tinkers maybe the viking. It may take a while to see who is cheapest or whats on sale. This is one of those times I am glad a forum like this exhists. Ouch. I honestly don't think I could ever sell a Samson sword, if I was ever lucky enough to own one. The man was a hero of mine, after all. Starvation be damned. Also, the fact that you are considering replacing it with a DSA terrifies me. oO These are dark times indeed.

I wanted to buy the Jody Samson sword that was for sale here awhile back. Scraped $900.00 worth of copper wire and............ had to give it to the wife for Christmas. The things we do for family. ;D I'm sorry you had to sell your but am glad you have a positive attitude about it! I have the 100 Year war Sword from DSA. I got it on a whim because they were donating money to SBG. It didn't come very sharp, thanks to Tom it's better now ;D. Right now it's probably my favorite sword that I own, though I don't own a lot of swords.

I LOVE my Chaos sword... but I would not use it one handed. It's heavy but balanced VERY well for two hand use with the large grip. As Pogo said... the factory grip is pure crap... I had Brian of DBK redo mine with a purple grip... which is pure awesome sauce. It's a great sword once you get rid of the craptastic grip. Speaking of the grip... mine was black over red, some were black over gold... I have never seen bue.

Thanks for the input, 'Howler. ;D Ditching the grip is fine; even if it were tight and well done, I'd customize it just due to the wierd oblong cross-section it has. Since it seems like the sword itself is so awesome, you've just bumped it up my list above the Windlass Raptor and CMS swords, but still below the VA Bristol and Gen2 High Elven King sword. Buuuuut, since it seems as though I may be getting a HEKS for Christmas (begged mom... we'll see how it goes. ;D), that just leaves the Bristol in between me and this brute. Thanks again for your thoughts on it, guys. ;D On a side note, the leather 'ito' may be reuseable for wrapping a katana's tsuka. I wonder... -Slayer

Hey guys, new to the forum. In purchasing a sword, or swords, I think it is wise to choose a genre, choose what looks good to you right off the bat, without studying the specifics to carefully, and then choosing a site, such as Kult of Athena, or Darksword Armory, that you can focus on and buy from continuously. Love to hear your thoughts! - Michael savagesteel.blogspot.com/

I actually found it easier *now* to buy a sword than I did say, 12-18 months ago. With the tinker/hanwei and VA-practical lines available and well reviewed, the choice seemed a lot clearer.
