Looks like it could be a pretty decent chopper. If you could lengthen the handle a little, so that one hand could be placed about halfway up the sword, with the other at the back end, I don't think the weight would be that much of a problem. I think it would be used more as an axe than a sword, but I think it could work.

I don't get it. The Vendetta sword isn't from FF7, it's from Advent Children (the movie-sequel to the video game, which is still a separate entity).
Also, the Vendetta sword, or whatever it's called, is NOT the Buster Sword. They even show the Buster Sword in the movie, rusting on a hilltop where Cloud abandoned it.
As far as the design, I don't think it would be a functioning sword. If made light enough to use effectively, it would be weak. If made strong enough to cut, it would be too heavy. Just like the Buster Sword. Or pretty much any sword Cloud used in the game & movie.
It would be possible to make a single-hand version. It would basically be a fantasy-inspired dussage cutlass. But hitting the 2-hand length? I dunno...

um, you could make something much better and less ridiculous? What happened to the other piece you were going to make? The fancy looking goldish one.

I think you could make this in aluminum to cut weight- I mean, you weren't planning on actually doing anything with it, were you? I mean, its just a pic but that bevel puts me to mind of a thick blade; the all-steel composition means extra weight, especially in the handle area where the handle looks thinner, but the profile of the hilt means more steel.
Don't get me wrong; as far as video game swords it is on the lighter side of fantasy, it isn't butt ugly but for me- I see it as something that would've been put to better use making something else.
Edited to add: I was just thinking...this would've been WAY cooler than that awful slab in Outlander.

That kind of looks like a two-handed Dussack. Historical precedent means MAYBE actually feasible and realistic. Just put one hell of an aggressive distal taper on it and it actually could work....
