Yes, you just have to secure the blade very well using cardboard, bubble wrap, and extra packaging. After that you should have no problem shipping your item. Just be sure to word your words right when shipping though customs.

I have shipped bare blades and received them. I attached the blade to a board wide and long enough to accommodate it with a screw through the nakago ana. I wrapped the entire board in shipping paper and used shipping tape wraps to secure everything. Bubble wrap was next.
This method kept everything secure being bend and damage free.

I put mine in PVC tubes which are slightly narrower than the broad part of the blade / sori. I then cut slots in the tube so the wider parts of the blade can slot in, and then stop, so it's stable but the tip can't protrude past the end of the tube. The blade is wrapped in newspaper before slotting in. I roll the lot in one layer of cardboard and tape it up. For international shipping the tube is way lighter than a plank of wood, and theres no way it can stab out. I've done it with curved blades and it's possible, but gooderer on straight blades.

Wow, guys, consider me impressed! There are some pretty brilliant strategies here. Oh, and I've laso had the chance to experience brenno's method 1st hand, and it most certainly does the job well. Again, rather ingenius. -Slayer
