Thoughts, experience with the model. Is it a beast at over four pounds?

I was looking at DSAs site today and saw they had it listed. It was supposed to be called Flame of Angels I believe, as per Adam Sharp's original design. It's gonna be a typical DSA to my knowledge, reasonably well built but a bit of a clunker, like all their swords.

Thanks, that helps confirm what I figured out jsut reading the specs, I had a feeling she wouldn't be too nimble, but was hoping someone who owned some of their blades might have had some experience with this one to prove otherwise. So what I can gather and you as a swordsmith confirms, it's a tank. What I'm trying to figure out is how to best spend around $300 on on nice sword that would have that feeling of Ondolindë, Gondolin from the Silmarillion. I see that Gen2 has the High Elven King sword and then there's the SGB project. Both of them are great designs. I like the straight but wish it was six inches longer and didn't have the ring pommel(just my tastes). The leaf blade is just a tad more than I want to spend and again, about six inches shorter than what I was looking for in a fantasy blade. Love a couple of your stuff, but you're way out of my price range( Your Andúril is really nice!). So there it is, what a sword that has that middle earth feels from the first and second ages, something that is functional, not a slo and priority one is the blade, then a scabbard. Best of both worlds would have them as a package but first is the sword. Wish the Atrim 1592 was still available, I could possibly extend the budget that far, maybe. Well, I'll keep looking and hopefully some one will take some pity on me a throw out suggestions. Maybe I'll get lucky with something used coming up, never know.

Hey thanks, that helps. So even at over 3 pounds the Black Night is still a capable one hander? When I think of a good cutter, I think of being able to stop and redirect a cut. I do realize this will not be the same as the katana as European swords did rely a bit on brute strength where as other styles have a bit more finesse, but at almost five pounds I just wonder what part of beastly she lean towards.

I find a good european longsword to be as agile or even more than katana. And I handled both.

Brendan, Thank you. I'll admit I think you're out my budget, but an opportunity to learn a thing or two is very welcome. I send you a PM right away.

yeah I was shocked at how well it handles its very easy to redirect although I dont know how other DSA swords would handle aside from the fact that i know they will be heavy but still well made

And they have free shipping until January... I'll see what Mr. Olszowy has to say and try to make up my mind. That is what little I have. I am very confident that DSA blades are well made, I'm still wrestling with the weight though, five pounds is a fair amount to get swinging in an arc. Physics and all that.
Again, Thanks!

the thing to be most concerned with is that they come dull unless you ask for the sharpening and aparently their sharpening is sub par but I would talk to eyal about that were I you

As luck would have it, I have a knife store close that does sharpening cheap using a large and slow grinding wheel, thing must be 4 feet in diameter and using slower speeds never heats the blade. Had all my personal blades done there a bit ago and will be taken any unsharpened and in need of resharpening swords there as well.

Has the knife shop ever seen the thickness on the edge of a DSA? He may need to charge you extra. ;D
