Hello to all you sword people! This thread is to express my thoughts on my first sword purchase. I have extensively used almost every type of blade tool you can think of in my 59 years, but this is my first sword . I think of a blade as a tool, something fit for the job. I looked at what Albion offered and couldn't find what I wanted, same for Atrim. I am 100% positive they make marvelous, perfect swords, even without ever holding one in my hands. The Valiant Armory Kriegschwert Regal Series, designed by Angus Trim still attracts my attenion and I may purchase one in the future. But this thread is about what I have purchased, the Guardian Sword from Darksword Armory. After reading many discussions and watching many reviews I decided on the Guardian Sword because it filled the need and the dimensions for what I wanted. I wanted a sword made with modern metal, not one made with 1000 year old technology. I'm not looking for exact historical replication, because I'm not looking for a high dollar wall hanger that I'm afraid to scratch up and loose $1000.00 in value. I want a sword that I can call a real battle sword and use to thwart a real threat to my life if necessary. A sword is to me just a tool. After receiving my Guardian Sword, wiping the oil off, I set a plastic gallon jug of water on a table in the yard. With one swing I decapitated the jug with the bottom half never moving and with all the water still remaining. This is the first time I have ever swung a sword. I know this isn't impressive to most of you more experienced swordsmen and swordsladies, but it's a start. Some people think this 4lb. sword is heavy, but I am very used to carrying a 9.5 pound FAL with an additional 3 pounds of ammo with me on a deer, elk, or bear hunt. I like the Guardian Sword, it can make devistating cuts, and I really like the awesome devistation a thrust from it can make. Do I think it is the perfect sword? Absolutely not. If the S.H.T.F. would I want to abandon my Guardian Sword? H.E.L.L. NO!. I will make future reviews of this sword as I have things in mind to do with it and I intend to share my results. I hold no allegiance to any swordmaker and anything I post is from my own personal experience. I will try my absolute best in every instance to post a factual account. The fine people of this forum deserve no less. So far, the best remark I have had on this sword is from a car mechanic friend of mine. He said, right after I pulled it out from the shipping box was..."Damn, I'd rather be shot with a big gun than stabbed with that"! I'm still smiling! ;D
