It looks like it was made specifically for fishing rods...as such, the dimensions of a sword would mean that it was merely leaning in but not secured...if anyone were to bump into it, you'd have swords falling right and left. Plus, you'd have to insert them point downward which is NO WAY to display or store a sword.
Also, you could get an 8 sword wall rack for about half the price; I've seen some on sale on eBay for $29.99.

The circumference of a typical fishing rod at those points shouldn't be that far off from a sword...and I don't see why you'd "have to" store the blades point-down...but I do agree that there are better, cheaper methods available.

I can't see storing sharp blades upright as anything good or sensible; that's just an accident waiting to happen.

I'm inclined to agree in a majority of cases, but I would point out that a good many blades are stored upright. I'd reference the so-called "shogun stands" for katana or tachi, as well as most wall-hanging plaques. Granted, hanging from two or more prongs directly upright, as opposed to leaning against anything, is far more secure than the alternative. Even more than in a horizontal stand, in my own experience.
Just thinking aloud here, mind.

I'm all for upright displays- on a wall...point-up displays are good for non-kid, non-klutz environments.

I'm gonna have to finish off a office in my garage with a lock on the door to hang display mine. (Ha Rob's got wall hangers ;D ) My youngest can climb anything. I just figured tip down when I do.
