I've been trying to stay at this pretty hard and it finally paid off. Got it to a point where I can try it on and start looking to make adjustments and improvements. Still need to add the shoulder and upper thigh protection. It fits well and is comfortable but I would like to improve the side closure as right now it is a simple multiple tie closure and a pain to do by myself. Buckles would likely work better. We'll see. As always, let me know your thoughts. As always, thoughts and comments are most welcome. Thanks for looking. Troy/Shoboshi

Those scales separate and sewn/riveted on? Or just tooled into the piece?
Also, having some experience with crafting armour, I have to ask that you post a pic or 2 of the side closure that I can give you my best advice on impvoring it. Buckles can be even worse than ties, if they're placed wrong...

Brenno-- Thank you very much sir. I consider that high praise coming from a craftsman of your accomplishment. Thanks.
I dunno how long it took to get to this point. Maybe 50 hrs? There's 12 lames each front and back and each scale on the individual lames are tooled, plus the oak leaves... It adds up. I do like the effect it created though. It was worth the work in the end so I don't mind it.
Lunaman-- Hey thanks. Sometimes you get excited about something but other people can't see what you are excited about. When other people like it too, then you know its not all just in your head. Thanks.
Taran-- The scales are just the bottom of each lame, cut and tooled for definition. The front is laced together and the back is riveted. I know the front is traditionally riveted as well as laced, but I wanted flexibility in the front, so no rivets there. I can bend over as far as I can and no loss of comfort, nothing pushing or jabbing me.
I'll see if I can get a few pics of the closure. Won't be til tomorrow though. What are your ideas?
Terryzac-- Thanks man! Yeah, I'm pretty hot to see the whole suit done too. I think putting it all together with each piece will look pretty damn cool. Gonna have a helluva Halloween costume next year! Thanks for the compliments.
Ebon-- Thank you very much. The tooling really adds to the time spent, but it sure makes a difference in the overall look.
I appreciate all the input fellas and I sure am glad I have a place like this to share. Wouldn't be the same without you or SBG.

Won't have any till I see it. It all depends on exactly how it fits together on the side and where the closure needs to be. BTW, I noticed you seem to have decided not to do the 0 like the guy from Last Samurai...

Wow! I thought the kabuto was nice, but this... A well deserved +1 from me! Now you must customize a katana in the same theme, dark brown silk ito, antique copper fittings and copper leaves, and a leather clad saya.

Taran-- Nope. No backing. Just lames attached to each other.
Gaffer-- Hehe. Well, I suppose a zombie would really only need armor right around the neck area to keep fine upstanding folks with sharp pieces of steel from separating their heads from their torsos. But that wouldn't be all that much fun for us.
Ebon-- How about Protective leather skin shield to enhance and prolong life span in a hostile zombie rich enviroment.?
Eversberg-- LMAO!!! That would be ideal!
Slackitude-- Wow. Very kind words sir! I will endeavor to do them justice. Thank you.
Ichiban-- I will admit that I have been so focused on this that I hadn't even thought about remounting a blade to go with it. Of course, it is blatantly obvious that is exactly what needs to be done to properly finish it out. Probably with a daisho. Leather clad saya? Hmm. That's a thought. And would look great if done right. I like the way you think. Thanks for your inspiration, on this as well as the outstanding work you do on your blades.

Brian-- Hey, thanks man. It's coming along. Got the shoulder pieces cut and will be tooling them within the next few days once I figure out what I want them to look like.
