Im trying to find a good way to purchase a cheap cutter or beater sword in australia, but I haven't been impressed with the aweful shipping costs most sellers charge. Anyone in Oz got some advice. Sure if I was wanting a $300+ dollar blade the shipping is not so much of a problem but say I want to get a cheap musashi blade its very depressing to see that the shipping is more than the cost of the sword. Americans seem to have it great, pay 60 bucks and get free shipping for a heap of cheap blades to play around with. Doesn't anyone in Australia import reasonable cheap blades.
Oh and im looking for advice, is it worth checking out a few blades in person before purchasing? If so anyone in Adelaide want to let me have a look a some of theirs, because their arn't any shops for that here.

Mostlyharmless: have you tried www.globalgear.com.au or warsword.com.au? Go and have a look at the martial arts shop on Morphett Street. Do you have any experience or training? If you find anything else i would also like to know due to the fact i to live near adelaide and finding anything round here is difficult.

I have looked at global gear etc and ebay.com.au and they dont really have anything I want. Sure I could get a PK but at AU$350 im not that keen. I would like to find something in the range of AU$200. Since there are quite a few choices to try your luck with in the US for this sort of thing im wondering who sells them here. Global gear did sell some cheaper blades in their G range but don't seem to be doing that anymore. As to experience, well I have a few friends with swords bought from overseas but I would clasify my experience as next to none

Ive been looking around on ebay.com.au and noticed this seller stores.ebay.com.au/QingZangGe_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ0QQftidZ2QQtZkmSells a lot of 'handforged' katana. Anyone every tried on of them? If not I may get one. I could get Paul Southren to test it if he wouldnt mind so people know what sort of quality they are. At $100 aus they look like the cheapest thing around.

the old $30 sword $90 postage trick! Any one who advertises "can chop iron" is instantly worth running away from FAST! Mate save your money and spend a bit more and get a know product from a known dealer.Paul here has the best prices on Cheness stuff and you know you can trust him.Global seems to have the best prices on Paul Chen, specially if you wait for one of his sales.

I have a g-2 and it isn't bad.
