Like i have mentioned a few times before, i have a Hanwei Taza cup hilt rapier. It has a wood core scabbard. It says so on the online descriptions. And i can see it when i look inside. But a few days ago, i heard something was loose inside it. Today the same thing. Both times a small piece of plastic fell out. And now the tip of the rapier rattles somewhat inside the scabbard (as if theres too much space). This is annoying, but maybe it could be a problem too. Has this happened anyone else?

you have pulled back everything and seen wood grain ? like you can lift up a splinter and everything. Because Hanwei are noted for using fibreglass on nearly all their scabbards. Which is very good its just not very historical but keeps the price down heaps and is light and durable. I know alot of the other rapiers have fibreglass scabbards, maybe with the Taza (which I have my eye on in antique) they went with wood but it would pay to really check. The plastic could be lumps of solid adhesive, or could be shims they slid in to give the sword more stick in the scabbard.

It almost sounds like there was some sort of plastic piece just in the tip to keep the sword from rattling, but either way that's pretty weird.
