Today, I am a man...Let the zombie apocalypse come for I am ready. I cut my first milk jugs today and it was good. Not perfect. I took a bite out of my stand twice but I've decided to be lenient with myself since I'm brand new. I was trying for a series of cuts aimed with laser like precision which would cut slices out of the milk jugs. Instead I was lucky if I got three slices out of one and some of them I only cut in two. But, when it's all said and done, it was awesome. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning riding a brand new bike. The first milk jug the blade went through it like it wasn't even there and I looked at the piece if milk jug left on the stand and thought "Holy **** did I really just do that?" I want to thank all the wonderful people at this forum who've been so generous with help and advice, and when I get my son in law over here with his camcorder to take some video I'll post that and ask for some more of that help and advice.

All hail the warrior Slackitude! Welcome brother, a whole new addiction has been born, whether you are aware of it or not. Fret not the cutting of the stands, it keeps em in line. I do it regular to test the strength of my blades. I use duct tape to fill the missing chunks. Have a karma.

That is soooo exiting! ;D There will only be three times in your life that you cut, the first time, the last time,........................ and all the times in between

Huzzah! First cuts are always special. (I'm barely past that stage myself.)

Thanks, guys. As addictions go I think I'm OK with this one. It looks like rain tomorrow and I wanted to do some more...

+1 from me for the first cut. I've done some rain cutting myself but I understand not wanting to get your baby wet just yet...

Congrats Slackitude. There is still much you can do on a rainy day. Now that you have some hands on time you can use your minds eye to work on form and edge alignment. Working it out and seeing it correctly in your mind goes a long way toward doing it in reality.

Thank for sharing the experience that brought back memory of my first cut back in Chrismas night 2003 ,I had to work that night so I was alone in the empty parking lot with milk carton (actully half and half ) with Bud K Viking sword . I did not get hurt that night and surprisingly the milk carton was cut and it was fun and that night led to SBG and proper and safe sword to cut with
