So I have a habit of clicking on some of the random links that show up on the forum. I looked at this one, just perusing their swords. Nothing special, really. Then I clicked on the "battle ready" portion of the page, and this is what I found. www.1swords.com/Battle_Ready_s/18.htm WOW!! Don't think I need to say more.

Oh... Wow...

Well... maybe some peoples definition of battle ready may vary slightly from one person to the next. For instance, 1sword might define battle ready as "Well... uh... we made it out of metal!"

I guess they think battle ready means that you can kill someone with it. But you can do that with a stick, too...

I read the words "Battle Ready", and I ask, "Where's the battle? Modern warfare is mostly fought with guns now ." --Edward

What bothers me is the idea somebody out there will buy one of these thinking " this is a REAL sword, I can cut wth it." We've all seen the HSN mishap, this site just begs for a repeat.

Man I hate the term "Battle Ready". I think half the people that use it don't even know what it means Can't say I'm a fan of buzz words.

It wasn't that long ago I was buying swords like that and hanging them on the wall, content that they were "Battle Ready" so they must be quality stuff. Thank goodness I'd never heard of cutting and never tried to get too athletic with those wall hangers. Today I still own only one "real" sword, and that's because of SBG more than anything else. The lack of knowledge out there is astounding and I think all of us that are into swords, from the folks that have a few wall hanger to the folks that cut on up to the folks that are seriously into verious forms of martial arts, are all lucky more people don't get hurt every year.

I think this particular usage of "battle ready" might have something to do with legal battles...

Depends on what you're battling, really. Battling empty walls? Fine. e-battling? Fine. If you battle ( instead of stepping) it's probably fine, too.

Man, I am caught between despair and hilarity.
The same kind you would get if a zinc-alloy "car" with no wheel, seats, or paint was deemed "transport worthy" on the basis it was made with "authentic materials"!
