Hi to all, my name is Nikolay, I'm the leader of russian reenactment club "Citadel" located not far from Moscow. We have a lot of steel-fighting activities, so we need good weapons but russian manufacturers make pretty poor quality swords... That's why I found the site www.sword-manufacturers-guide.com/index.html, read it and try to buy some Cold Steel swords (I try "Kult of Athena", "Sword Direct" and "Knife centre store") but I couldn't because they don't ship swords in Russia. Could you advise me some shop, which could ship weapons to Russia? P.S. Sorry for my poor English )

First off, Vellcomin!! You should scroll down and post a intro in the cafe, but to your ? You should look into what it takes to import a sword into Russa as your country might not allow it, and plan a trip into Europe to a country where you can buy swords, like Finnland or Sweden, possibly Denmark, thats if you can bring them back with you across the border.....Hope some one has the info you need...SanMarc.

The Russian Federation prohibits importation of edged weapons. Every katana I have ever shipped has been rejected. I was told by Russian customs however that the law only applies to completed swords, or components that are all shipped together.
If you were able to get a vendor in Europe to ship you the blade in one package, and the rest of the assembly in another, I believe this will satisfy Russian customs requirements. I highly suggest you confirm that before acting on it however.
I hope that helps.

Thanks for your answers Hey gvalhmey, there's Jan Motycka of Red Gur swords, I believe he's in Russia: www.sword-gur.com if I remember correctly. Good luck. Thanx, but he's in Czech Republic ) To Ronin Katana: You're right, edged swords are not allowed in our contry at all. We have strange law. I'll tell you more - we have troubles with our blunt swords sometimes, that's why we should get special documents which confirm that our swords are not the weapons. But we want to get some cutting experience, so I try to find a way to receive a real sword. However, good quality blunt swords too are necessary to us. Thanx for your advise about sending sword in parts - it coud work. to wiwingti: This is our goverment web site. It contains the general information on our country. I think I should just order some inexpensive blunt sword and see what happens )

Hmm... I know lots of countries prohibit swords and guns from general public. But some of them own swords in those countries. It is possible to obtain a permit of some sort to carry swords?

You might have to start your own forge, say it is part of your Historical reanactment groupe.....SanMarc.

I can carry the sword (in the bag of course) and use it in specially equipped places if I prove that it is "not a weapon" or it is "sports equipment". So, if the sword has some sort of certificate - it will help
