Hi all, Just finished my second re-wrap, and it made me notice (again) how strange the kissaki is on this early Hanwei Shinto katana I have. The hamon is beautiful, but the kissaki is pretty awful - much worse than either the geometric kissaki on my iaito, or even the cosmetic one on my Musashi bamboo. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed with a re-shaping of the kissaki? Just as a note - the current kissaki is totally non-geometric, so I'm not worried about losing any of the geometry here... Thanks, jason Attachments:

That's actually much better than the standart kissaki on production swords. For the shinto it's bad though. I'm not a katana guy but I'd try to polish it using progreeively higher grits of sand paper.
