Seems like a fair deal. I might have to build some capital and be in touch with the fellow, though I'd rather invest in antiques... Eh, this fellow deserves a look.
$490 for the Italian sword seems like a steal to me...even with shipping and scabbard...
Hmm... Well, if the Euro itch ever strikes me, I'll know who can scratch it. ...8-10 months down the road, at least...

The guard does nothing for me, but I am loving the engravings on the blade- and is it me, or does it not transition smoothly from double-fullered to diamond cross-section? A testament to Vladimir's skill. Thanks for sharing, Bill.

I've been eyeing that Cervenka blade as well. Here's the closest thing I've found to it anywhere else, as far as a double ringed guard on a hand and a half. www.armourclass.co.uk/Data/Pages/17Century_2.htm About half the price at 260 pounds, but far more plain as well.

Woooow.... Sniff, I'm too old to wait 18 months. ( Probably deliver it in time to plunge it into the earth in front of my bloody tombstone. ) If you're considering getting hilted in this manner, looky here: www.darkwoodarmory.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_6_21&products_id=170&zenid=dd139da37e3426322daf85fc7b9094badarkwood's bread and butter is SCA fencing weapons, but Scott Wilson does do custom work. I have mixed feelings about darkwood. I own two of their rapiers. They're excellent, however I was too inexperienced a neophyte to ask the right things, and they were too busy pushing work out the door to get these swords where I wanted them. When I expressed some remorse about what I recieved, Scott was quick to tell me to send it back and they would get it right. Like I said they're good pieces, but if I had them to do over, now, they'd be perfect, to my mind. Excuse the soapbox, just wanted to note the alternative. (PS gee, while I was typing ecovolo brings to the table a notice of 7 mos delivery. I could live that long...hmmmm. ;D )

Apart from his one-and-a-half sword already mentioned, I also really dig the Italian sword and the late 15th c. cut-and-thrust he calls simply "sword": www.sword.cz/detail16.jpgBeautiful weapons indeed...

His viking swords look wonderful. And a bit cheaper than the rapiers you mentioned, at least for the basic ones. (but the Italian is still cheapest, it looks like)

I'm so not a fan of side rings, but I AM a fan of swords and this is one worth having a long look at. Way out of my price range, but who knows, one day.
I'm peepin Brenno's sales pitch- talk about twisting ye auld arm!
