Hi there. I was surfing through ebay and found an odd man out. A "functional sword" by Musashi with the following specs:
S P E C I F I C A T I O N S Overall: 39" Blade: 27.25" Handle: 10.5" Weight: 1LBS 14.5W/O 2lbs 7.5W/S Blade Thickness: 8mm Blade Type: Hand Forged Steel Blade Shape: Traditional Curved Samurai Blade Steel Grade: Stainless Steel
Features Hand Forged Blade Stainless Steel Battle Ready Edge Blood Groove/Fullered Blade Full Tang Blade Curved Samurai Blade ZUKURI TIP: Shinogi KISSAKI:O MUNE :Ihori BOSHI:Yakizume HADA DESIGN:Muji HAMON:Sugu Faux Ray skin wrapped handle Traditional Japanese style hand wrapped handle Mukugi Pin(s) Metal caps on handle Metal hand guard (Tsuba) Can be disassembled for cleaning Glossy finish on saya Buffalo Horn on scabbard Protective sword sleeve
However I found perturbing that it is made of Stainless Steel instead of carbon steel. It explains that is a 50/50 handmade/factory stamped sword that saved production costs (another turn down), along with the faux ray skin in the handle. I know that most sub $100 swords are rubbish (although great steals can be found if you dig hard enough), but this has Musashi stamped on it (i guess its their lowest tier sword), so what can be thought of it? Deserves the chance? Or it is rubbish all along?

I guess it's possible Musashi makes a stainless sword. I've never seen one, but I'm still a novice in the area of Japanese style blades, and have only owned them for a short time, so I'm sure I haven't seen everything. ;D
Another possibility is that it is mislabeled. I've seen many swords on various websites that I know to be carbon steel, but are labeled as stainless or sometimes as "high carbon stainless steel".
Can you post a link to it?

Okay, I'm back (I have the bad habit of leaving myself logged in even when I leave the computer, sometimes all day/night ;D). I tried the link (both ways) and it says it's been removed!

I believe Kriegschwert is correct. This sword is a Musashi sword and is incorrectly described as having a stainless steel blade. The sword in question is a Musashi swords Tokusen II series sword ( I don't know the specific name, maybe Zinje does) number SS005BD. Here is a link that gives the correct information on this sword www.twiggystreasures.com/mus-17-2.html. I know the site doesn't give much info, but at least it's correct. Sol

Most places don't have a clue. I ordered one that said stainless steel nija sword but it a sword from the Totsuken series and is carbon steel. I also paid 40 bucks.

Um, its either a mis-print or a fake. Musashi usually has their emblem stamped on that little brass dealy at the base of the blade, not printed on the blade. Their home page is www.musashiswords.com/shop/home.php
