I was wondering how practical (as in able to be used) is this?? That guard comes over the grip so much I just dont know. Also, if youve seen sora's keyblades, they are the same So how useable do you guys think this would be?? I realize its completely fictional but...

As the old saying goes, "it cuts both ways." I would be severely concerned for the swordsman more than the opponent.

I don't find this design practical... At all. I am not even going to start on why.

Neither that sword nor the key "blades" are functional in any way. The guard design would seriously inhibit range of movement, as well as is just useless, protect your hands? From what, your own body?

So, what're those? Blades designed to look like large ornate keys, or just sharpened keys?

You would have to grab it so your arm was perpendicular to the blade/guard. Then, the only way you could swing it is by snapping your wrist back and forth. Not much power available there. Also the serrations would keep snagging on things, so no.

So, what're those? Blades designed to look like large ornate keys, or just sharpened keys? They are not even sharpened, some dumbass idea from a video game. Would maybe make a good mace, bashing heads in with a giant key.

I didnt mean the key part I meant the guard I don't see how you're supposed to hold it- the guards look like they encircle the handle so you'd almost have to hold them with the edges out to the sides- so if you hold it in front of you like you're lifting it to the sky, instead of the edge being aligned with the handle and direction of your hand, it would be flat and horizontal, like you were inspecting the fuller as you held it aloft. Definitely would be an impairment were you ever to try and use it.

it's EMO SWORD, not only can you cut your opponents, you can cut yourself at the same time!

it's EMO SWORD, not only can you cut your opponents, you can cut yourself at the same time! ROTFLOL!!! ;D +1, man, that was brilliant. The keyblades are not meant for cutting, really. You'd have to play Kingdom Hearts to actually understand the story, but for what they are... they work. The 'circle grip' is retarded, though. And that first design is just unbelievably NOT practical. I doubt that any self-respecting custom maker would even take a job to make one of those. -Slayer

It looks like you would have to gip the handle in just the right way, and as soon as you start using it, it start binding up on your wrists. I would also be concerns about the serrations on the blade adding a week point in the blade.

*sigh* That is just.......so dumb. So very dumb. How many people had to ok that design before it got made into an actual product anyway? Did not one of them stop and say, "Wait, a minute...this is idiotic"?
How does this happen?

There you go, flip the guard around and it would be pretty cool. Though everything Rick Barrett touches become pretty damn cool.
