They are not always slow. I registered and was accepted within two days. It is a fine sword forum as is MyArmoury.
P.S....Oh yes, as to the OP, I believe that Hotspur is a moderator at SFI.
P.P.S...And I believe that Jonathan Hopkins, who is still a member here - I think - is also a mod at SFI. You may try sending a PM to Jonathan here at SBG to inquire.

They accepted me right away, but that was a couple years ago. The place is a little slow now, so maybe no one checks their inboxes as often.

SFI and MyArmoury are both great sites with LOADS of information... I lurk both quite a bit but only post rarely. The wealth of info at both sites is deep... but I have little to add, so I tend to keep my trap shut and just read and learn.

Both great sites, but I too very rarely post at MyArmoury and never at SFI. But I have learned a lot through lurking at both forums.

I registered at SFI before I registered at SBG. I am still waiting for my account to be activated.

Huh... I regestered awhile back, and was approved the same day. That's weird... If any of you would like to contact a specific member on SFI just let me know and I'll send them your email address or whatever message you give me. -Slayer

I've been registered at SFI for awhile now, I don't recall it taking long to get activated. Of course, it wasn't as slow then as it is now. I think I joined MyArmoury around the same time but I don't really remember. Hm.

SBG and MyArmoury were quick, but SFI took a long, LONG time. I actually had to re-do it.

I still have yet been activated. Went though the process 3 different times over the last 2 years and still no luck.
No offense to any of the SFI people, but I've kind of lost interest at this point in their forum. Not alot going on in there and between SBG and myArmoury, I've gotten all the resources I need. Besides, I'd hate to have a problem at the mod take this long to fix it if I were a member...
Kind of counterproductive to good customer service in my opinion, even if it is just a board.

I really don't know why my account hasn't been activated yet, because moderators have posted on SFI since I registered. Maybe they just don't want a sixteen year old member, which is somewhat understandable.

It could be a lot of things. May have not gone through, might be a ton of people waiting to get activated and they haven't gotten through them yet.
Right now the only thing you're missing over there is the classifieds. Don't get me wrong, there's a huge wealth of knowledge on there for days of reading, but you can find a lot of it elsewhere. MyArmoury is where I typically go first for info anyhow, if that says anything.

I joined up years ago; back then there was a lot more traffic, a lot more users present than now. I went over there one evening (I can't access them from work anymore so that seriously hampers my desire to even go) and it was like a ghost town. Museum-like feel to it now; nothing but relics, you know?
I figured it would happen sooner or later, they got so restrictive you couldn't even interact anymore, except in 'approved' forums or threads. I made a response to a comment on a Classifieds ad and got sternly reprimanded for it. That was when I went looking for somewhere else to hang out and found SBG so I guess I should thank that mod for turning me off SFI otherwise I may not have found you guys. Its not like they make mention of SBG over there.
But I do miss the classifieds as kid said; lots of high end (and not-so high end) stuff gets moved around on there.

If you register, you must use a real name, no aliases. That will keep you from being accepted.

I've always used my full real name - just like on myArmoury.com. It's just either the mods are too busy or they have let the board languish a bit. I have still used their classifieds. I have not sold anything (because I don't have a full user account), but I have contacted people about items and closed deals even without being a member. There are not many people there that are not a member either here or at myArmoury. Even had a guy do a private auction on eBay once for me on a Del Tin.

In fact...using my super mod powers I detect two non-activated people in this thread are gmail account users .
Please reregister , using IP email acounts or other such accounts as "free email servers" such as Gmail were causing portal problems from spam....
Anyone unable to use another email service such as comcast...att... etc PM me and i will try to provide you with a zen-blades.com email address to register with... but i believe yahoo might do....
