I love my Gen 2 Swords...
I have a Chaos sword and a Knightly Ridding sword... and they are two of my favorites... even tho my collection now includes several customs and some Valiant Armoury swords.
Like all things, Gen 2 swords have strong points and weak points... but I feel they are still VERY compatative in their pricerange.
For instance... as Tom mentioned, Gen 2 swords are some of the few euro style blades that are good to cut right out of the box. Valiant Armoury is doing this well now also, but Gen 2 swords have been this way for a long time, and I lov them for it. Also, Gen 2 Swords are peened... this is a plus for some and a minus for others. Gen 2 swords are IMO *TOUGH* swords... in addition to the two I currently have I have had a few others pass threw my hands... and they have been among the toughest, if not THE toughest swords I have ever cut with.
There are a couple more Gen 2 Weapons I really want... a Chaos Dagger to go with my sword, an Irish Bastard sword, A Celtic, and I'm very tempted by the last High Elven King swords Jason recently mentioned.
As for Clyde, he is not totaly gone... I got a PM from him a few months back... I think the whole thing awhile ago may have left a bad taste in his mouth and he does not post publicly anymore. Can't say I blame him...
I agree with CN on the 12th Century sword... it really, REALLY needs just a little more grip. Thats the only reason I traded the sword some time ago... it was too heavy to use one handed and it didn't have enough grip to be comfortable in a two handed grip. My Chaos sword (Which I had Brian of DBK do his magic on... he really does GREAT work) has a LOT of grip and thus handles amazingly well for a sword near 4lbs in weight.
I'm really, REALLY looking forward to seeing Gen 2's new stuff...
