I have seen a few motorcycle suites. Most give good coverage of the elbow, knee, shoulder, chest upper back. They usually leave the kidneys, throat and wrist open and will require additional armor in those areas. If you already have a motorcycle suite it is a good place to start and see if you like SCA combat. You will be able to borrow the pieces you don't have to pass inspection and get some practice in. If you don't already have one, you will be better off getting proper armor. SCA armor can be had not not too much money if you do your homework, ask around and are prepared to do some assembly yourself.
Motorcycle armor tends to be more common with WMA guys because they don't have an established armor standard. That is the reason they often break their fingers.

I would think wearing Batman armor on the SCA field would be akin to painting a large target on one's back in a gunfight.

Motorcycle armor generally does not have enough ventilation for "combat" use. You will overheat very, very quickly. My Joe Rocket Ballistic jacket is well armored but is too short, too restrictive, and still too hot to fight in. The mesh does breath well but that's in the wind at 70+mph, sweat your brains out at the traffic lights.
