take off tsuba and tsuka, grind flat the edge, pound blade like huge nail into a flat board, re-assemble, elevate a bit and proceed to plant climbing vines around it. Would look sweet in a year or two

I don't know, shipping might only be $8. I think I'll cut the blade down and try mounting it as a polearm... I've always wanted to do that. ;D +1 to Punk for awesomeness, btw. \ -Slayer GASP!!! You're saying that most sword companies charge 3 times what it really costs to ship a sword??? I can't believe it! Point taken. It *DID* only cost me $8 to ship my Windlass Verneuil from here to Georgia, but that's only one state away. As it is, GreyPilgrim is going to pick up the sword for me, since he lives in New Jersey near to RottenPunk. He was already going to come down here to FL to hang out in a few days, anyway, so he'll just bring it himself and save me the shipping. Perfect timing, lol. ;D Major thanks to Punk; he's very generous and is even throwing in a free half-mat of tatami he has to spare! Hey, I can only give karma so fast... help me out here, people, and shoot a few +1's towards Punk! ;D Lol, maybe we should re-name this the 'free beat-up sword giveaway thread'. -Slayer

seriously?? ill take it of your hands. pm me and let me know how much shipping is if you really want to get rid of it. Speaking of sword disposal... I have this jian I got for cheap at Pennsic (cost me $40). I gave it to a sharpening service to see if they could sharpen a sword properly before I handed over my CS Gim. Long story short, they screwed it up big time. So does anyone want it or have an idea what I should do with it? It wasn't originally a bad sword. The tang is a little narrow and welded on, but it Seems pretty solid... I'm pretty sure crazycolerogers was talking to you taran.

+1 to punk for slayer. In return for giving this karma I demand slayer post pics of the project he uses this blade for. You have a deal. ;D I'm already in the midst of three other projects, all of which I need to post pics of in various threads , but this one will probably be the funnest. I've never worked with metal before, so it'll defintely be a learning experience. First, the rolled tip will likely have to be chopped off, and a new kissaki filed on. Then I'll extend the tang another foot or so, leaving the blade about 15" long. Add a 5' shaft made from hickory or ash, and I have myself an improvised Naginata. ;D That is, after fixing the bend, touching up the edge, giving the whole thing a nice polish, and possibly needing to straighten the now-elongated tang so that it would be straight enough to fit in a wooden staff. I'm not sure how I'd go about doing that last step, though... I'll start a thread in the customizations section later today, if any of you guys have some ideas. ;D Thanks to Rottenpunk, indeed! -Slayer

I say we nominate Slayer's Place as the official graveyard of swords- he can be the CryptKeeper resurrecting this one or that one and take pics to show off his new Einsteins...whatta ya say B-rog, will that work?
I can see him getting inundated with hundreds of bent and twisted swords- candy store anyone?
By the way, that is a GNARLY tip roll!

YAY ME!!! Just call me a Necromancer. I actually haven't gotten this sword yet, because GreyPilgrim got sick and wasn't able to come to FL as planned, but I'll start a customization thread once it makes its way to me. And, yeah, if anyone else has FOBARed (freaked out beyond all recognition, that is swords, just lemme at 'em! Good idea, Ebon... It would be fun to be the resident blade necromancer. -Slayer

Couldn't you just take it to a scrapyard? Seems to me the cost of shipping would be more than it's worth. All I know is getting good carbon steel is not at the scrap yard, And the shipping is about the same for the raw 1045, but this way some one can have some fun redoing the sword, the scrap yard is for SLO's!!! Good luck Slayer with your project........SanMarc.
