I have been looking into the Irish hand and a half by Generation 2. I noticed that the grip looks quite round though, in the pictures I have seen, which would possibly have a negative effect upon edge alignment. Can anyone who owns the sword attest to this? Thanks for the help

Yes the grip is round. I have seen it at a ren faire. If it wasn't for the round grip I would of bought one two years ago.

Is this the sword that you are talking about? I am not sure if you've seen this before, but Dan did a review on it.
www.sword-buyers-guide.com/irish-swords.html
It looks like an awesome sword and he gave it an excellent (4/5) recommendation. I have not seen this blade in person, but from what I've read in that article, it sounds like a really balanced and solid piece.
As far as edge alignment, are you referring to when you slash/cut with it?
I hope this helps in some way...

It's true the sword does handle great but the round grip was the major factor in why I didn't buy the sword.
In my opinion, if Gen2 changed the grip, their Irish sword would be their best long sword.

I've cut with this sword a few times. I didn't find the round grip impeded my edge alignment at all, especially when I wrapped a finger around the guard. But unless I'm mistaken, buying the sword from Arms of Valour gives you the option of having Brian from DBK do a high end grip, which involves some reshaping to make it less round. So send Jason an email, I wouldn't buy it from anywhere else.

Thanks for the help everyone. Dan's review was what made me seriously consider the sword in the first place. I will have to look into that modified grip, as the rounded grip is all that put me off of the design. I will look into it

Yes, the high end grip option from AoV would include a re-shaping of the grip for better handling and cutting.
