Novara sword is beautiful but it is a bit unwieldy if you ask me. 5.5lb and it's not THAT big... It's just an inch longer than my Del Tin 2142 warsword and Del Tin is under 4lb. I think most of the Novara's weight comes from a bit over sized hilt parts.

Sure it is. But If I have a big heavy sword, I like the blade to be beefy and massive as well as the hilt. This poor thing is only 4.6mm thick at the base!

No one has mentioned anything about a point of balance or distal taper or anything, just because it says 5.5 lbs doesn't actually tell us if this sword is heavy to handle or just statistically looks heavy, if a sword is made well enough and balanced well enough it feels like a much lighter sword.

Hmmm...seems they have a number of not-often-seen MRL swords. Like this one, I had no idea Windlass had made a type XIX. It's not entirely accurate, but it looks nice at least. www.thesteelsource.com/html/mr1514.htmBlade length of 35" for a single-hander makes me think it'd be way whippy though. Thought it was a type XI until I noticed the ricasso and short-ish fuller.

Yeah, KOA has it listed in stock but Steel Source's price is better and they have a few other Windlasses I'd like. Thanks for the heads up.

What part of 10 and a half inch handle suggests single hander to you? Just looking at this sword I can tell that it is a dedicated two hander.

He's referring to the sword in his link, not the Sword of Novara. Regarding the weight, I'm skeptical it's actually that heavy. KOA often posts the total weight, i.e sword + scabbard.

Wow, that's a neat blade! Is the fuller flanked by two additional fullers on the ricasso? Sorry, this is the first time that I've seen this sword so I don't have any experience with it...
The pommel looks threaded to me (because of the little piece protruding from the bottom...am I right?). Also, the tapering doesn't look like it's substantial. If it weighs the 5.5 lbs I would agree that it's a two-hander (or maybe hand-and-a-half?). I'm by no means an expert or anything, , but I figured that maybe I could learn by trying to make observations and reading replies. Good luck!

Kid: Sorry about that mate, thought you were referring to the sword of noav, no hard feelings hey? It may not necessarily be threaded and if it is made properly then threaded isn't any worse than peened. It's a hand and a half not a two hander, it isn't long enough to be a two hander nor is the grip really a two handed grip. By all means make observations it is a good way to learn, however be careful that people realise they are your observations and not presented as "gospel truth" because that can get messy fast

Thank you Bloodwraith and ShooterMike, I appreciate your support .
I'll be sure to make it clear that they are simply observations...I would hate for someone to take it as "gospel truth", buy it and then be angry with me .Doh!

It feels heavy. I handled it multiple times at the store. It feels heavy every time.

www.thesteelsource.com/html/mr500238.htmGrab this one somebody. This sword is worth twice that money. I would order it immediately if I was in US... I handled it, it's a bit point heavy but stiff, very solid feeling and beautiful to look at... I'm very sorry that I didn't buy when I had a chance here in Croatia in a shop...
