. I recently received Hank Reinhardt's book "The Book of Swords". I could not find any mention of this book on the forum and thought I would present some information about it for those that may be interested. Hank Reinhardt was a long time collector and sword enthusiast. He founded Museum Replicas. Very knowledgeable man about many genre of sword. Sadly, he is no longer with us, but his book is. Widely scoped, nicely illustrated, and well written, at times humorously. I would rate this book very highly, and especially for the new student of the sword., as it covers such a wide range of topics. I've included the Cover, the Introduction, and the Table of Contents here so you can get a feel for what is in this book. best, dxr It is available at Amazon -- www.amazon.com/Hank-Reinhardts-Book-Sword-Reinhardt/dp/1439132828/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253658069&sr=8-1Or Hardcover here -- www.baen.com/author_catalog.asp?author=hreinhardt

"Frank?" haha, yeah I noticed that too. When I saw the thread title I thought "Frank...? Hank's brother?". Seriously though. Hank was a wonderful man as skilled in the sword as he was knowledgable in them. I had the honor to meet him before he died and own one of his personally designed cruciforms. I highly recommend anything written by him. You will learn something new with each read.

.
Big time sorry, My BAD !
I was talking to my friend FRANK on the phone right before I made this post and had a senior moment.
thanks for pointing it out !
There, Frank thrown in the memory hole, and Hank brought out to his rightful namesake.... so easy in the digital age.
I also added the sourcing links to my original post.
thanks, Chris

I got this book last week. It is a pretty easy/fast read. Gives a good overview with interesting stories. And he gives recommendations for further reading if you want more detail. I have one of those recommendations on order right now.

I bought this one about a month ago. I read it pretty quickly too. The thing that struck me was that it was pretty obvious that it was assembled after his death, by his widow. I promptly bought it and paid retail price because I like the people involved. That said, it was incomplete. The glaring omission of a detailed discussion of European medieval swords was kind of a letdown. And those were Hank's passion. I really wanted the book to be 75% about medieval swords. But there was hardly anything at all on that topic.

Thanks for the headsup, Mike...I'll still get it, but I won't have any great expectations. (Medieval swords are and always have been my chief love).
