I used to wonder why somebody would post this. Now I know why. Let us say that you are attempting a purchase. There is no way to know that the recipient has read your offer, since a login is required to receive. Most people frequent here without logging in, unless expecting. Perhaps we could have an email indication like ebay or kijiji has? If this is possible please disregard my ignorance.

There are also circumstances where someone posts something sensitive and you would prefer to respond privately. A lot of people may feel the same and do so. The thread however has not posts and looks like nobody cares. Posting "PM sent" in the thread, lets non-members who are just browsing, know that there was a response, but the details are private.
