If I remember correctly, you said your sword cost under 200 shipped... Even with factoring in a profit margin for Paul that doesn't seem to be close enough price wise for it to be the same guys. Yep: under $200 total, shipped to California, USA. Hows the sword you have held up I was thinking about trying out one of their blades given the price point. It's held up well, strangely enough. At the end of my review I gave tips on how I would do it next time; I recommend considering those tips if you should order one. If you do order one, please give a review? The more people who review JKoo/Sinosword's products, the better informed all of us will be. --Edward

Yup I'll know in a week or so If i'll be ordering one. I actually prefer the synthetic silk to cheap cotton but thats just me.
If I get one I'll definately do a review. Seems liek a nice source for a cheap semi custom sword and or daisho.

[glow=red,2,300]"Paul reassured me that this forge is *not* the one that does SBG customs."[/glow]
Its my understanding that many of these websites or "forges" are all one and the same. It doesn't really matter if the sbg customs aren't directly ordered form one or another as they all have the same parts and construction. For all intents and purpose they are the same product.
[glow=red,2,300]"Even with factoring in a profit margin for Paul that doesn't seem to be close enough price wise for it to be the same guys." [/glow]
Which begs the question where is the extra $130 coming from? The only way it could be factored in was if there was an extremely high cost added for having each one individually tailored to your order or for sheer profit. Who knows.

Thats wht I was thinking, Paul is far from the guy to take that kind of margin... My guess would actually be some kind of middleman. Maybe JKoo is the primary... who sells to shady guy who sells to paul who knows. Doesn't really matter either way, maybe Paul just doesn't wnt to confirm it, I wouldn't. IN the end its somewhat irrelevant, and I"m sure we get a much better service and return/replacement policy with Paul

Just thought I had better chime in here - it is NOT the same forge at all, though as mentioned the fittings are generic stock and thus, they are shared by many different manufacturers and micro forges in China.
I wish I had a $130 profit margin on the customs..! Lol (well, kind of - I couldn't do that to my customers, but you know what I mean).

Holy crap that was a cool review. This was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks alot for the link to the review. Any ideas on where to purchase authentic 300Year+ old swords? What kind of antique sword are you looking at? A Japanese nipponto? An infantry saber? Antique jian or dao? Well you can always find some at the "antique classified" at SFI forums.swordforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=171Before buying one, I suggest learning more about the sword's history and learning how to spot a fake antique. I would not recommend looking at it on ebay until you know how to differentiate between and authentic antique and a fake antique. I'm looking at a Japanese long sword "Tachi" for a start but to be honest I'm not to concerned as long as I start my collection somewhere. What I do know is that I would like to start with Japanese swords and move on to Viking and Spanish. But this does not mean that if something comes up that is a great sword that I will say no. I mean "a great sword is a great sword..." I'm well aware of fraudsters as I have had my share of swords sold under false advertising and pretenses. We need to learn a lesson as well I suppose. If any one knows of a reputable sellers site please be so kind a to post it here. Fortunately I now know some people that could confirm authenticity if needed Regarding my original question whether Sinosword is legit or not, I must say thanks to the input and opinions. I think that I would easily support a forge that at least attempts to there best efforts to supply a good product ie: Sinosword than some real shady mass production copy factory in who knows where that says "carbon" but mean "rubbish" or that promises you a product in 2 weeks and then never even sends a product (obviously with your payment) blah blah blah... I do feel that if you put in some extra money even through Sinosword and maybe get the Damascus / T10 option with the best fittings they have that you will have a sword you could be proud of. Whether or not SBG got there product from Sinosword or not - So what- the service they render to Q-check a product, guarantee, shipping etc.. is worth more than most people realize. And again as for the review on the sword that was posted - great job.

Re: Sinosword/JKoo basiljor-- Thanks; I appreciate it . I'll back up what I stated at the end of the review: Don't look for an historical replica of a katana; go in with the idea that you want a tool to practice katas and/or tameshigiri/cutting. As for 300-year-old-plus swords? Consider this site: www.nihontoantiques.com/ . I hope you have the cash to afford one; I wish I did . --Edward Thanks for this link - these are some serious sword. Perfect. Now just need to rob a bank to purchase some of them... Any one know a good getaway crew?

Hey now, another supplier of production katana...I completely forgot I'd already seen Edward's review on his...glad to see there's another one.
Wish there were as many Euro smiths out there like there are for the katana, but I understand why it is so.
