Hello, everyone! I bought this sword at Dragoncon last year mainly because it's so beautiful, but I can't figure out whether to group it with my wall-hangers or functional blades. It's very solidly constructed, no rattle at all. The blade is THICK about a quarter inch, and you can see from the closeup, that the bevel doesn't start until nearly a half-inch from the edge. The sword is not sharpened so I haven't had opportunity to test its cutting prowess, though the steep bevel kinda makes me doubt that it would make smooth cuts, more axe-like I'm guessing. I can't seem to find any Sei Bu Mon blades for sale online so I'm having a difficult time judging whether or not I bought a pretty, wall-hanging lemon, or something that I can proudly display as a functional piece.

If that is the same sword then you've got yourself a real gem, ViolentSerenade. Jim's Zheng Wu was near flawless from what I could see.

Wow. The guy I bought it from didn't tell me any of that information LOL! Thanks, guys. Guess this one goes in my "functional" category.

Wait, don't listen to these so called sword experts. What you have there is a very dangerous SLO. It can't even be called a wall hanger because it is too dangerous. Woo, man It feels good to save someones life! So as a favor to a fellow SBG brother I'll take it and dispose of it properly, so that no one gets killed you know. ;D

Serenade, hey congrats on the find. Sounds like you ended up with a real gem.
Eagle, thanks for the link. Never knew they made stuff like this in Japanese history. When I saw it I thought it was a traditional chinese sword. So I learned something new today. I try to do that everyday but I only had twenty five minutes left. Thanks.
