Hey guys!
Well, I had an idea for a project for the Custom Sword Shoppe, and I'm hoping that I can get some opinions on it.
This ingenious scheme originated while I was browsing the Custom Sword Shoppe forum, of course. ;D I was looking at a picture of the 304S, and thought just how awesome it would look with a guard similar to the one found on Brendan's -Anduril-, but much shorter, without the spikes toward the hand, and with the slant of the guard's tips at a slihgtly different angle...
Okay, so basically a completely different guard that's only mildly similar to Brenno's design. But it WAS inspired by the Anduril!
However, I quickly realized that by chopping off a large portion of the 304's guard, the POB would move forward, which I did NOT want to happen. So what do you do? Make the blade shorter, and the grip longer.
After a bit of consideration, here's what I ended up with:
Take a 304S, of course, and grind back the base of the blade to extend the tang by 1.5", and with a grip to match the extended tang. The 304's pommel would be the same as a stock version. Then, shorten the guard so that its quillians extend only about 2" in either direction, but with the tips at a slant, as such:
____________........____________
\____________...____________/
Sorry for the rough diagram.
So, to show you exactly what I'm envisioning, I edited this picture that our friend and fellow forumite Mike Harris took of his 304S:

And turned it into this:
What do you think?
I haven't decided if I will *definitely* get this made or not, but Sonny has said that he can do it. I also need opinions on whether or not to heat-color the fittings, and if so, what color, and what color leather grip this sword would look best with.
Thanks, guys!

EDIT: OP edited to include full topic, rather than merely a request to view the full topic on another forum.
