Hi,all glad to say that I received my Bamboo Snake Katana today, natural hamon looks great on the folded steel, was well packaged from Kult of Athena. No loose fittings,no cracked saya.Katana fits snugly in saya. All in all I'm very happy with the sword.I did however spot a flaw on the blade and was wondering if someone can tell me if I should be worried. There seems to be a 4mm flaw on the Shinogi-Ji part of the blade,I'll post the pic below. It doesn't go through to the other side and it's not deep, but very shallow.I don't know if this is a crack or is it "Shinogi Ware",meaning horizontal "lines" (splits) generally due to a poor weld between layers of steel. found this link explaining flaws on blades: home.earthlink.net/~steinrl/kizu.htmHere is some more pics I took: "] Attachments:

Looks like an open layer to me. No big problem so long as the sword was heat treated semi-decently.

Looks like an open layer to me. No big problem so long as the sword was heat treated semi-decently. Thanks for your reply,I inspected the katana closely from kissaki to tsuba and must say Paul Chen did a fine job with the heat treatment. The boshi is well done and a even hamon is present from kissaki to end of blade. The hada is more of a subtle look than that of the damascus steel blades. This is my first real sword(not counting wall hangers) ;D and is in heaven now!!,he he. Like a hawk I inspected everything and could only find that 1 flaw, but my opinion is that it's also a open layer. Was just worried to go send it back again More comments about this is always welcomed Thanks so far to Paul Southren for having this awesome site by which I was introduced to Kult of Athena who export to my country,South Africa.Took about 14 working days, got tracking number from Ryan and followed my order the whole time.Had absolutely no problems at customs on my side Further thanks to all the guys that helped me here with my decision on choosing the right sword for me as well as all your great advise and patience If need be I'll do a post for about the whole importing process with contact numbers of relevant departments.I didn't do a review here about my sword 'cause I see mine doesn't fall in the general $300 margin.
