Dosn't look like I could get much use out of it... I don't even think it could cut a milk jug. ;D

hmmm, they just dont look ancient to me. There spots on the blade surface that didn't decay like the rest. Plus you can still see active (orange) rust. I'd be pretty suss on them...

I guess when you get right down to it you would have to test the metalurgy of the items to be sure. I would imagine in these cases only highly reputable aucution houses should be considered. If they are fakes they look old, though the viking blade looks a little off and if they did sit in a vat of acid for a while they should know to neutralize it in Bicarbonate of soda. I have seen legit old arms and different types if they were used in combat none would be left for sure. Blood is on hell of an oxidizer and pits quite quick.

Some of thier blades looks authentic...but the active rust makes me suspect it's a fake as well. Any sword from that era that still has active rust should look nothing like a sword anymore.

Looks bogus to me too. But why would they go through so much trouble to fake this stuff? Wouldn't the effort be better spent on making a new blade?

Not with the kinds of prices originals can command...

No way that viking sword is original. Too crude work on that pommel. Nothing of complexity and beauty of original viking pommels. Plus spots of red rust.

There are a number of 'big' sellers...I'll chalk up the success some of them have had to slick advertising. I think anyone who bought this would end up with a $24,000 POS. Just my HO.
