I was wondering if anyone had any pictures--or better yet experiential knowledge--about a certain sword MRL used to offer, on and off, around ten to twenty years ago.
They called it the "Mongol" sword, though it looked much more like one of the straighter Turkish swords. Nice length though (blade ~30 inches?) and listed weight, with a nice looking yelmen.
I so often toyed with getting one, but I didn't like the hilt. If I'd only known (or been willing to learn by trail and error) that redoing a handle and guard on this type wasn't so bad!
Anyway, hindsight is 20/20. But I never saved any of the old catalogs with one in it, and I'd like to at least dig up a pic. Not to mention hear from anyone who might've had one.

It took a bit but i found it, sorry no scanner so all i could do was take pictures and type up the description in my usual 3 fingered typing style. Mongol sword catalog #62 The bronze crossguard has survived seven or eight hundred years of history quite well, but the steel blade was so badly corroded it was impossible to tell anything about it.Intrigued by the guard which was very simmaler to those in use thriughout the neareast and central Asia,we decieded to try it in place of the old guard on OUR Mongol sword. The balance turned out better and the sword is a beautiful and highly effective weapon that is perfect for the horseman. The slightly curved blade gives excelent cutting power, but with a sharp and deadly point! Made from high carbon steel,Wood grip, brass guard and butt cap.Made by Windlass steelcrafts comes with leather scabbard # 1-508 $185.00 ($9.95) shipping. Overall 35 1/4 Blade 30 x 1 5/8 x 3/16 weight 2lbs 2 ozs Some pictures are dark maybe you have software to briighten them up,I do not.Just click on the thumbnail pictures. Attachments:
