Now I'm not sure if this has been discussed as the search engine on this site and I don't see eye to eye . Anyway I'm looking to expand my collection into ancient swords and I need some advice on the best candidates to purchase. There are the MRL/Windlass Pompei and Mainz respectively, how are these, does anyone have experience with them? Then there are the Gen 2 Pompei and Mainz, how about these? And finally I was looking at the Spanish Falcata by MRL/Windlass, this looks nice and very different than most sword types. I am welcome to any suggestions but would like to stay around the same price range as these. ;D

I have the Hanwei Paul Chen Roman Gladius - PC2032 which I like. It is based on the Maintz pattern. Also, Valiant Armory has the Actium CF404 coming out in their new Signature line which would be worth looking at.

Thanks guys, I think I will start with the Falcata. Hopefully I can get a review in soon after I get it. See the thing is I'm in Canada and the three places I will deal with is Kult of Athena which uses USPS which when it comes up here is through Canada Post which either doesn't charge you brokerage fee's or they are very small. WingWitti is the same, and then there is Reliks which is actually in Canada which is good since I work for Purolator I get 75% off shipping in Canada. If anyone has anything else to add please do.

Yes Del Tin makes nice swords, but for the time being I will be saving my large sword budget for the VA Crusader and the VA Warder, both of which I believe are the best looking swords in their respective categories... this is only my opinion of course. But isnt there a Celtic sword made by Gen 2 that is quite good or is that someone else?

I can recommend the G2 Celtic for a chopper if you wanna cleave some stuff, and don't mind that styling which everyone is offering and has become Cliche' - of that style of metal hilted Celtic Anthropomorphic G2 would have to be the best. I don't know about any of the other swords listed. There's always THIS ;D

I just got the Windlass Greek Hoplite sword and I must say it is awesome. Leaf-blade shape, good balance and with it ordered sharpen, well... it was really sharp!!!! I was lusting after Ricwilly's collection of Gladii( ) but I'm glad I got this one and the price is very reasonable ($173 sharpened). I also like the flat sides of the grip which makes it easy to line the blade up for cutting.
