Does anyone have some tips for antiquing a sword? I have never done this before, and I know there must be a variety of methods. Thanks!

whole grain mustard. The seeds add a nice touch.

yes ...plain yellow mustard works well....you can make patterns. Apply, let dry good (it will smell) wipe off with a damp cloth repeat process to achieve desired look. Final stage once good and dry with pattern done, a quick wipe with an oily rag.
Salt & water spray works too, take's a little more time than the mustard route. the salt /water will etch the blade quicker so some light, light sanding or steel wool work may be required.
liquid gun blueing is also an added effect.
