Hello Board, I a couple years back I was considering buying a sword that I thought looked right. I am pretty sure it is a CAS Iberia sword. If I remember correctly it was a Visigoth model I think..What I really liked was the blade was a rough hand hammered finish with an up swept guard quillions. Now I can not find it. Maybe it was discontinued or has a different name. If it rings a bell with any members please lend a helping hand. Thanks

Thanks for the reply Luka, It was very similar to that sword but, the blade was a very rough hammered look like some viking blades are offered as. I just can't stop thinking about it. It very well could be discontinued due to the fact that the rough hammered blade did not sell to well.

This one has antiqued finish which is hard to see in the picture. I have seen it in person and it does look like it is rough hammered and left for some time.

The blade was gnarly and bumpy from the hammer marks, but however,on the other hand, you say you have seen this one you posted Luka? What did you think of it? I am thinking of getting the Gen 2 Irish sword but the weak tang & pommel still bothers me. This one is probably the same, narrow tang towards the pommel, but I do not know that for sure.

I don't think tang should be a problem either on a Gen2 Irish sword or this one. This Hanwei one is quite a good sword, real two hander although it's called Bastard. Supposedly they make them with a solid pommel from recently and that should take PoB nearer to the hand.

Nice custom job on that Hanwei,. I think I am just a click away from the Gen 2 ring hilt. As soon as I get my sbg code that is. Thanks.. By any chance? Is the tang as it goes through the pommel, round on the Gen 2, or flat and tapered like the close ups on the CAS'/ ?

I just put in an order for the Gen 2 ring hilt from AOV. There was another joint that offered the sword $25 US cheaper and free shipping but I decided I wanted the AOV backing. Wish me Irish luck.
