Good day brothers and sisters of the blade!
I recently bought Brendan's beautiful, hand-made Braveheart sword from Fable Blades and realized...where am I going to place it? How will I display such a piece? This isn't one of those swords that I can store in a side area...no, a hand-made blade deserves a hand-made mount ;D.
If you would like to read my review on this sword, here is the link:

I know that the left hook is a little bit higher than the right, but certain complications forced me to keep it like that. It still hangs well regardless, though . We placed some small pieces of dark felt inside the hooks to keep the guard from getting scratched each time the sword was removed.
I chose a nice piece of poplar that reacted well to the sealant I sprayed prior to adding everything. The leather strips are genuine leftovers from a local shop. The brass fittings were purchased from either Hobby Lobby or Michael's (I can't remember which ). Both the wood strip running down the middle, and across the top, were hand-painted by my very talented mother. She is quite the artist, and I owe a lot of credit to her.
While I did the woodwork, sanding, and cutting, I relied on her expertise for all the painting, placement and overall judgment. We used a really nice Kit Rae mount as a sort of springboard. However, we did not copy the design, we merely used it as a way to get started.
The two aluminum pieces flanking the blade were impressed and painted before being secured with brass pins. This is the first time that we have ever used aluminum sheeting in this way. After a few trial-and-errors...we got it down .
If you notice in the lower left of the mount, there is a small signature in green. I had asked my mother to sign it as a work of art. We put a good amount of time into creating this (it could have been done a lot sooner. But, like everything else, life tends to get in the way ).
I know that most of the decoration is a bit hidden when the blade is mounted. Either way, it still looks nice!
I hope that this mount does Brendan's sword justice!
Thank you for taking the time to read my thread! All positive comments are greatly welcome!

Joshua
