Make sure you do a review. Avery already posted one, but that was a while ago, and the more reviews we have, the better.

Yeah, I'd be interested in a review as well. Windlass quality control is hit or miss. Sometimes the sharpening services they have doesn't do a very good job. Other times the edge is awesome, albeit with a secondary bevel. KoA has the Leurterit for $184. Having said that, I don't know what your price range is, but the Del-Tins' are pretty cool, and the Darksword armory 10th century is a helluva sword.

Don't forget about the Generation 2 River Witham. It is a little heavier than some people prefer, but still have a good reputation form owners.

Somebody here (I can't remember who) was supposed to have picked this one up. They were going to review it, but I guess they never got around to it. I've been eying it myself, but just don't have the cash at the moment.

It has a threaded pommel, which I hate, but some people may like. The scabbard looks very nice from KOA's pictures, in fact it looks better than most sub $300 scabbards.

I think sanmarc just ordered one...I'm certain he'll do a review once he's had some time with it. I'm reasonably sure it was sanmarc.

The Windlass Sword of the Viking King was VERY whippy according to another member.
Personally, I still want the Kris Cutlery Viking Sword... *drool*

Yeh, that was mine, the King of the viking sword, It was whippy, Tinkers was stiffer, and worth the price, I sold the VK sword for what I paid for it though...It IS totally Eye candy and got a Lot of comments at Viking fest and midsummers fest in Poulsbough WA.
I was going to do a revue, but after I got it and seen how flexible it was, I just dropped the rest of the revue, I'm shure it would do fine with very light cutting of bottles, but not tatami, For the price, I could get better swords to cut with and look reasonably good....SanMarc.

I had a chance to Handle one of the Sword of the Viking King swords when I last visited MRL showroom... and needless to say, I was disapointed. The scabbard is, by far, the best part of that sword. Its very cool looking... but the sword itself was a flimsy feeling wet noddle. Major bummer.

Yes! I have held the Tinker Viking in My hands, tested the flex, and was very satisfied, the edge was razor sharp on the one I held, but if you get one that is so,so, it's not hard to sharpen properly, the KOV needed a lot to sharpen....Get the Tinker and have one of the guys dress up the scabbard and you'll be very happy...SanMarc.

THe U. has very flexible blade but does fine as a cutter.

Sanmarc, I see you wasted no time ridding yourself of that SoVK- I wondered how it would turn out. I think I just bought my last Windlass blade ever....

How does it compare to the blade on the Ulfberht? THe U. has very flexible blade but does fine as a cutter. VERY different then Ulfberht. Ulfberht is shorter and wider... and a quicker, better balanced sword. The Viking King sword is longer and thiner... but of the same 3/16th thickness as Ulfberht, so it feels a bit more like a wet noddle. Also, the one I handled just didn't feel as solidly put together as Ulfberht.

I don't know how everyone else feels about the MRL Ulfberht, but to me, the blade is just on the light side of perfect for a Viking sword. Especially a late period sword of say, about 950-1050 AD. I don't understand why Windlass doesn't use this blade for an earlier true viking-style or Anglo Saxon sword. It would be a winner.

No, instead, the discontinue it, like they do with all their more popular swords... like the XIV.

LOL
They do have questionable marketing/sales practices. It looks like all of their good ones get discontinued...like they are actively trying to flush their rep down the toilet!
