This Gen2 12th century sword I have I received from a trade from a fellow forum member. The sword I believe was originally owned by Brian Kunz and he had costumed it to promote his sword customization business. Anyway, when I received the sword initially I was put off by the swords poor balance, excess weight, and poor edge. The customized grip and scabbard were well done of course. None the less, I set forth over the course of a few months to get it straightened out. I had put the project off for a while. At first I just used a Dremel to grind down the diamond cross section to make it flat. Then I came back to the sword months later and went over it with a belt sander, then lots of eighty grit sand paper. Now after filing the edges and taking weight off the front by slimming down the cross section, it is done. It has been a while since I have weighed it but the last time I did, halfway through the project, the new weight was 3.2 lbs vrs 3.5 from the factory. It may be less now but I do not have a scale yet at my new residence. I have moved twice since i started working on the sword.
I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. i do not have any cutting videos yet but I will try to get some. i did cut with it of course. A milk jug and two large Listerine bottles were sliced by it. The milk jug was cut not all the way. The Listerine bottles though, I sliced them the whole way through. I cut one handed with the sword and I'm still not used to cutting with it yet so I need to adjust to its heft. Though, it is weldable now unlike when I first received the weapon.
