Hey guys,
I am trying to choose between a windlass scimitar and cold steel shamshir. I figured that adding sharpening on a windlass the price is about the same as a cold steel shamshir. Besides that cold steel blade is identical to a windlass (at least from Paul's review)
Both have the same blade but which one is better in terms of handling, fit and finish and structural integrity?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
I am also considering Weaponedge French marmeluke...its a little pricier and slight heavier...but it is worth the extra cash?
Thanks ;D

I prefer the look of the windlass scimitar, but then I am a woodphile, so that isn't unexpected.

I would go with cold steel because they have a good rep for QC, but the windlass one is better looking

Yeah I was searching some info at SFI and majority of the thread points to better QC from Cold Steel compared to Windlass. I prefer Windlass more ornate and "woody look" (lack of a better term ). Anyway most thread at SFI were 2 years ago and I am hopeful windlass would improve their QC. I've sent an email to KoA asking them whether I should worry about Windlass QC on the scimitar. A little while ago, I did a little search at sword nation and I realized that their shamshir is a real bargain. Factoring in their cold steel discount offering: a CS shamshir from sword nation + 10 percent discount + shipping cost less than a windlass from KoA! lol.
