Okay I mentioned elsewhere in this forum I have a $7 Ozark Trail machete that I want to put a new edge and handle on. This particular blade came from the store duller than a butter knife and the blade has an annoying tendency to twist and flex in my hand when trying to cut. I am starting this project now. The only tools I will be using are a Leatherman PST I, a hacksaw, a Husky brand multi-tool, and the Smith Abrasives version of a pocket Accu-sharp. The only materials I will be using are the original store bought blade, found wood, and either hemp or leather cord - whichever I have the money for when the time comes. I will be posting before and after pics, as soon as I can find my camera again. Wish me luck folks.
This is my first customization attempt and if I can pull this off, I will be attempting other projects. I don't work with leather, I don't work making sheaths, scabbards, or sword belts - I'm a hemp slinger, I make cigarette cases, lighter pouches, necklaces, belt pouches, but if this project turns out decently, I may start making scabbards and sword accessories. Wish me luck.

Go for it, LP. Can you make a sleeve for my longbow? Kind of like a sword bag for a six foot bow?
Luck on your project, K

Be sure to get some step-by-step photos; I'd like to see where this goes.

Unfortunately, it seems that a "neighbor" (now banned from ever coming over again) made off with the family's digital camera. I'll try and take some stills with the webcam so start showing the step by step. The idea here is that I am trying to use the absolute minimum in tools and supplies, and seeing what happens. Although I haven't been able to get much done since shortly after the original post, I came down with a bit of a stomach flu. But there will be something shown soon.
