Righto lads and lasses. After receiving my new-ish Badger Blades Two Hander, I've decided to open the (marginally unattractive) Nylon cord wrap, take a look at the tang and assembly, straighten it out a bit, as the hilt has a marginal set, and re-wrap it. So, to that end, are there any special picture requests you'd like to see of it? Also, I'm thinking of doing the re-wrap in Jute (inspired by Brenno's sickle) and an exposed black leather spacer, which I think will really complement the simple look of the sword. Thoughts on that count? Edit: After much waiting and shennaniganizing, I finally uploaded these pictures... After peeling off the initial paracord wrap that badger had put on, I decided to take a picture. There's black duct-tape underneath... It turns out that the duct tape is the only thing holding the two wooden scales onto the rather beefy tang Alas! Welding. This shot is the junction of the guard and the tang What the deuce! The tang has a set. It's more visible in the right hand side of this picture And now the kicker shot. This is the juncture of the pommel and the tang

I would like to see the assembly. Badger blades always has a stall set up at my local ren fest, and I may take the plunge and purchase one of their swords this year.

This would be awesome when finished but I think it may be harder than you think. It's been a few years since I took mine apart so take this with a grain of salt. I loved mine when I first bought it because of the whole indestructibility thing but as a "sword" it's really rather lacking. Their construction is a bit shoddy as far as I'm concerned. What you're referring to as a set is probably just a poorly angled tang. A large number of their swords seem to be this way, I think they just cut their tangs out of the bar stock freehand with poor quality control. Then they weld threaded bars of steel to the tang to form a handle. It gives the sword a lot of weight in the hand while making the blade feel lighter but makes the overall sword quite heavy. So you can re wrap the grip (what I did) but you probably can't do a full re hilt. I'd go look at mine right now to verify what I'm saying but I'm out of state right now so some of it could be a little off. I'd still be very interested in pictures by the way.

So, it actually is a set, truth be told. I took all the wrappings off (more on that later, and there's a very definitive bend in the tang. I'm fixing that right now. Granted, I know Badgers aren't exactly smiled on in the sword community, but I wanted to give this one a bit of a try, just for fun. But on to the actual construction...
Holy Shmoley batman! The guard is slipped over the full tang, as you'd expect, but it's welded in place. Yes, welded. Also, the pommel is threaded into a slot cut in the tang, and that's welded in too. Hm.... No pommel hits then. Anyways, the tang is straighten-able and I'm workin' on that at present. Also, the actual hilt construction is just two pieces of wood, basically grip scales, held in place with electrical tape, then covered over by black nylon cord. WTF? The scales themselves aren't too bad, giving the grip sort of an octagonal cross section, so I'll probably re-use those, but electrical tape? Really? Pictures coming soon...

Spiralout, perhaps a piece of advice. Yes, the Badger does have that rediculous "no-breaky" warranty on it, but for the same money you'd be plunkin' down, I'd suggest you get a Gen2, which has better balance and weight, while still maintaining freakish durability.
